Anyone go from previous Corvette hard top coupe to C7 convertable first time?
Corvette owner here for around the last 23 years with owning many different corvette model types, but they were all hard tops ( Targa or fixed roof).
I currently have a C6 Z06 as a week end warrior. I've been thinking about moving into a C7 convertible with manual, most likely Grand Sport. I like the C7 Coupe Grand Sport / Z06 too. I don't know, just thinking about maybe going for a convertible this time. I'm aware of the smaller trunk space and should be fine with that.
For those of you that made the transition from corvette Coupe to C7 convertible for the first time, any regrets?
Thanks.....
PS. I do not track my cars, but maybe one of those 4 point roll bars may still be a good idea in a vert for extra safety

I also had a C6 Z06. Now have a 2015 vert. I love it. I have had a couple of convertibles before and prefer them. Your either a convertible person or not. Non vert guys don't get it. Convertible guys love em and wouldnt have anything else. In my opinion the the C7 standard feels a lot better all around than the C6 Z06. Just my opinion.
Good luck with your choice.

I was considering going from my LS3 C6 and going to a C6 ZO6 for the wide body look and the 505HP...........until I drove a C7 and then I was hooked. In MY opinion the C7 was Soooo much nicer than a C6 and it was a no brainer for ME...... I will give up 45 HP and drive the new technology. I now have a 3LT M7 convertible that I love.
As far as vert vs coupe.... I had 6 Corvettes before I bought my first convertible and now I am on my 2nd convertible. Pretty sure I wouldn't go back to a coupe. With the top down you have absolutely no blind spots and just a different feeling. A much more open feeling. I also like being able to open and close the top while at a stop light or while moving...
One thing for me when I first started looking I said I didn't care if it was an auto or a stick..... again, until I drove a 7 speed manual with the Rev matching and then it HAD to be manual. If you haven't driven a 7 speed with rev matching I would say give one a try.

Thank you for the feedback guys! Good to read that AI D, especially from a C6Z owner. I have pretty low miles on mine and never done anything with the heads. As most agree, the C7 interior is way better than the C6. I sat in a C7, but that was it. It was really nice.
Never drove a car with Rev matching chevyvette, think I need to give it a try

Had a C5 Coupe.Kept the top off most of the time.No comparison to a Vert. The 7 doesn't even need a divider for the air buffeting.Bluetooth can be done if under 60 mphr.Obviously depending on your hearing and conditions could be higher..Same as conversations.
Your getting 2 Different cars with a vert.Just push the button and your in Coupe Mod.Their Quieter TOO Closed Up.Nice small well made Top.
Depending on the combo. You could look as GREAT Top Up
Check out a couple combo's here:

I did research for about a year. Placed an order last Saturday. Never owned either. I was sold on the coupe. Like the looks and "truck" space. It wasn't until my final step in my research that I focused in on two things: Cabin Noise and Wind Buffering.
It was those two items that swayed me to my final purchase. Convertible is quieter with the top up and it is quieter with the top down.

I've have owned both coups and verts over the years, more coups early on, however sold on verts now that the tops are incredibly refined.
I like having a concealable/lockable truck space as well which will carry more than you would expect even with the top down as demonstrated below.

Buy the drop top, and don't look back. You'll be glad you did. OK, OK, yeah I'm a bit biased.
Good luck on your decision.

Another former C6 Z06 owner here.
The only thing I disliked about the car was the lack of removable roof. I still had (still do) a C6 Vert, but when it came time to transition to the C7, there was no doubt in my mind that I was getting a Vert.
Can't have too many Verts.

Any of you guys have issues with the sun in the south? It's so dang hot from April through October in Texas I wonder about the usability of a convertible here.

Here is my story: In 2007 I bought my 3rd Corvette, a 2007 Convertible. This was the 1st ragtop I had owned. In 2015 I sold this car and ordered a 2015 3LT base coupe. I loved the C7, but we severely missed the drop top. I ended up trading my 2015 coupe for a 2016 convertible and we absolutely love it. When the weather is nice, you cannot beat a top down cruise. It seems that the convertible has lower cabin noise as well, probably because of the partition between the cabin and the trunk. You do have to get used to traveling light though. (our C7 is mainly used on road trips.) I will never buy another new coupe.
