A) the Grand Sport is 460HP up against cars that were 500+ and 600+ HP, so why didn't they run the Z06?

B) the automatic GS or Z06 would be faster.

C) They should have run a regular ZL1, not the 1LE, as the aero package probably slows it down a few MPH at that speed!

This wasn't an apples-to-apples comparo by any means, but whatever, it looks cool to watch .

Something doesn't add up.
Look at time stamp 5:04 to see them launch and observe which vehicle is a car length ahead.

Then look at 5:08 to see them launch from another angle and observe the vehicle you saw at time stamp 5:04 only this time, where is that vehicle in respect to the one next to it?

These two scenes cannot be reconciled.

EDIT:
At the end, the MT driver says "the Grand Sport nearly loses the race, illustrating how badly it could use more power" yet this is the same person that said the GS was better than the Z06
and that the Z06 was way over powered. So what, he's suggesting the GS needs an extra 100, not 200 more HP? Really? going to quibble over 100HP? The guy is a paid lackey and says
what ever he's told. Motor Trends Spicer.

Actually found this interesting and fun to watch. So what that the GS didn't do well. Still a nice car and priced well below most of the winning competition.

Porsche, makes a great car as evidenced by it popularity and performance. I give the "devil" his due.

There is a Corvette constituency that still believes a USA big block trumps everything else. While a 4 pot Porsche Cayman begs to differ.

Unless their objective was to do exactly what they did....
As someone mentioned, they are all new cars for 2017! The GS was new.
What's the difference, they tested what they tested!

Next year they will probably test a 2018 Dodge Demon that will beat a Z06 and probably a ZR1 in the quarter anyway. Who cares!

A VW? Really? and a Miata?

While the Z06 did win, I'd have preferred to see it pitted against the Ferarri or McLaren or the Nissan or all three. Not a Miata or a Golf.

In the first race, a GS with the A8 and launch control would have certainly done better than this M7.

The Z06 would have been 7th or so in this latest class (which was a lot stronger this year). The Grand Sport was 1.6 seconds off the winning time. Look at the top 5 average cost and then factor in the cost of the Grand Sport. They are 2x to 4x in price. Big price to pay for 1.6 seconds. All of those cars are fast and way faster than what would be needed on the street.

Right, and also look at the track times. The GS was stronger there than in a drag race.

For the people who are upset, if you goal is to win drag races, the GS is not the car for you. And actually I would argue high powered RWD cars in the real world (not a prepped dragstrip) is not the best choice. I would consider AWD.

Teslas (P*D models) dominate the 1/4 mile. Go further than a 1/4 and the results will change. Put it on a road course and the results will change.

Electric cars will eventually dominate the track too.

My sentiments exactly. Let's see it again with a Z06.

Personally, once my factory warranty is up, mine GS is going to Lingenfelter for the 600HP cam package.

I love the way these things sound with a more aggressive cam in them. Until then, I'll spend three years enjoying the car in factory trim

Yes, I'm very aware of the fast list. There are also cars running 12.5s on it. Except for a few factory freaks running deep 11s, you'll find most LT1 C7s running 11.8 autos to 12.2s manuals.

You're going to be real disappointed if you every run LT1(stock) in the 1/4 and youre expecting to see mid/low 11s.

Don't be ashamed... it's a drag race. The GS is a track car.

Oh boy, don't want to start that debate again. Both the Z06 and the GS are great cars. I will say that even on the track, the GS just can't keep up with the Z (unless it goes into limp mode). When I was at Spring Mountain, I was behind a Z a time or two on the straight, and it just pulled away. They're awesome cars!

The GS is a track car, not a dragster. While it doesn't matter much to me, I do get it that people love to go fast in a straight line for a short period of time. Not sure what that proves, since you can strap a big motor or a powerful electric motor onto almost any platform and go fast in a straight line for a 1/4 mile.

Correct... and it's still the better car. Thankfully straight line speed doesn't define a car.

Yes. For the life of me I can't understand why they didn't compete with the king of the Corvette hill...., the Z06?
