At 12.2, the GS did pretty much what it's advertised to do. Besides, it was in some awesome company and, who would have thought a 2-ton Tesla would beat the world's best to 1320 feet with a 10.5 second et!?

I was pretty surprised too. Just odd to see such a well balanced machine roll in behind the pack, losing to a 350hp Porsche. Was watching it with a few car buddies. To be honest, I felt ashamed.

This race is ridiculous. Take the top models from all the other cars, but use a Grand Sport instead of the Z06? So dumb...

Seems a bit slow for the GS. Most Stingrays and GS's run about 119-120 in the 1/4 with ETs around 11.60 to 11.90.

Heck I also was very ashamed to see the Corvette running behind the pack

Surprised Camaro LT1 was only at 11.7. Tesla is a great car, but available power after running in Ludicrous mode would be pretty limited. Lexus, never were a performance car.

Not too surprising because the GS has the lowest HP to weight and HP to drag ratio of any of the models. It has the same wide body and downforce packages of the Z06 without the added horsepower of the LT4.

A lot of those cars were AWD and most were automatics... don’t get too butthurt guys, our cars aren’t really that fast

The instant torque of electric motors are hard to beat against gas motors. My daily driver little Chevy Volt in Sport Mode has shocked a lot of folks both passengers and at stop lights. I agree they should have used a Z06 though.

If you want to feel better about a C7 in the quarter, check this out!
5.54 @ 274 mph! Go Jegs!
Hmm, looks like a Base Model, no Spats, Rear Fender Brake Ducts or Hatch Spoiler!

A "Showroom Stock" Ferrari LaFerrari does the quarter in 9.7@149 with 4 electric motors (Plus it's V12!) BMW etc bringing others!
Expect the Vette could use the <100 pound system in current F1 cars that provides and instant 160 hp electric battery power for about 10 seconds! The electric motor then turns into a generator and recharges the small battery!
Good for a 1/4 mile run or saving energy from a stoplight even with normal acceleration. Every look at the instantaneous mpg when you take off from a light?

A8 with launch control would have posted a sub 12 imho. but these ,rags love to pretend they're mario andretti.
plus its on an unprepared surface. probably as good as brand new blacktop but still no dragstrip. even awd cars would be a couple tenths off. rwd being worst .3 or worse.

Yeah, but losing to a Cayman? That's embarrassing.

As for the Tesla... Crank up the voltage on an electric motor and you have INSTANT HP & TORQUE. If you look at the HYBRID cars running at LeMans (I was there this year) the front wheels are run by 400 to 500 hp electric motor and the rear wheels run by 2.0L V4. An electric car kicked some major *** at the Texas mile this year.
