$65,000 !?

In NYS you pay sales tax on the amount of purchase price regardless of New or Used, Private party or otherwise. In my county in New York it is 8% of the purchase price. 65k purchase price would be $5200 when you register it. If you trade a car in on another you will pay tax on the difference. Even trade would be $0 tax.
I registered my last pricey diesel RV coach I bought in South Dakota. 3.25% sales tax. In Montana, I could have registered it for a flat fee of $450.00 at that time. Oregon? There's no sales tax on registering vehicles - last time I checked.
One of my Brothers lived in South Dakota, so, I used his address when titling the RV. Saved a bundle.
If you've got the time and money to do a little research, you can save too.

If it was a loan, withdrawal , or robbery. It doesn't mater if No sale, he wanted to buy, and I wasn't even thinking of selling, but some EGO kicks in.ill also have a bedtime story for the grand kids, once about a time.....
To answer why mine, I told him we could replicate and he said yours is done, finished and offered $65,000. And talk is cheap we will see.
To all that replied, Thanks, I will heed the advice if this goes threw.
And I will enjoy my Shark Grey Z-51 Black wheels for all its worth......

In Texas, it's 6.25% sales tax on purchase price. New OR used.

The offer was just too good to be true.
Either whoever made the offer was pulling the OP's chain or he was pulling ours.
