z06 2018 corvette. I know there's a chip that I can plug into it to over ride, but can I buy it and can I install it myself and will it void any kind of warranty.

Yep....EZ install ( less than 5 min),and I don't think it would void any warranty.
As said above....just 1-2 shift above 2500 or so and it's not a prob.

Just rev it up higher before you shift. No-brainer fix. If you're getting caught in that, you're bogging it already.

No need to buy anything! In 53,000 miles I have had "skip shift" come on TWICE. Now, it never happens.... as post #2 said, "Step on the gas." - just a little.

I installed a jumper wire it took ten minutes mainly because the directions sucked the pictures don't look anything like our current model car but still only took a few minutes to figure out. My local shop didn't even charge me to install it because it was only a few minutes. The parts I ordered on line for about $25 and it works perfectly. I hated fighting to get it into second specially on a hill that is about to level out or in a turn where the car in front of me is making me push 1st gear!

Even with the plug in module the suggestion comes on the dash. That's the annoying part. I've had mine 6 weeks and have just learned to rev it up to at least 2500 rpms. It also sounds amazing doing so.

If it kicks in then pause for 1~2 seconds and then you can still shift to 2nd without any intervention.

No warranty effects for the skip shift eliminator.
$20, a 5 minute install and you'll NEVER have to even *think* about it again. Ever. Seems like a bargain to me.
I daily drive my C7, and still see the 1-4 notice appear a few times a week (just the notice, not the forced shift), but being it is a lot of in-town driving, I'm not always revving it like I'm on an F1 circuit, so maybe that's my problem...

There always seems to be the "step on the gas!" arguments when this topic comes up. For me, I just wanted to drive the way I drive, and not have to think about it either.
There are probably a few out there. I got this one and it took care of it.

Same one I got, just installed it a couple of weeks ago. Should have installed it when I bought the car back in May. Works great.

If you drive over 20mph in first gear, you don't need any skip shifter......

Yes, just go a little faster before shifting and you'll never have it bother you again.

Yes, learn how to drive a sports car.

Sorry, I just can't buy that. It has nothing to do with how little a CAGS defeat costs. I simply can't see how anyone can't figure out how not to shift out of 1st between 15-19mph. If you really want to granny-shift, just do it sooner.
Folks like that should be in an automatic.

Just let the shifter slide into the neutral gate when heading into second, then continue to second. Doing this will bypass CAGS.

It won't. CAGS is only operational between 15-19 mph.
