Differences between Hood Stinger p/n’s 84090834 and 22989107...
Hi, first time Corvette owner of a new 2018 Grand Sport, Watkins Glen Gray with Adrennaline Red interior, Black-painted wheels, 2LT and A8. I wanted to know what the difference was between the two part numbers for the Hood Stinger Carbon Flash. Every GM part sites on the web would state that the part number 84090834 replaces 22989107. So I purchase p/n 84090834. After installing the Torch Red Hash Marks last week, I went and did the Hood Stinger over the weekend. It’s not Carbon Flash it’s the Satin Black.
I believe the code for the Hood Stinger Carbon Flash is (DNE) and the Satin Black is (DUR). I couldn’t find the code on the GM package it came in but after looking closely it said Hood Stinger-SAT, Not Hood Stinger-CRBN FLSH. So the SAT is short for Satin Black.
I was a little disappointed at first because I wanted the Carbon Flash Hood Stinger to go with the Carbon Flash trim pieces. But after I was finished with it, I REALLY REALLY like how it looks! I love the Watkins Glen Gray with the Carbon Flash to give it some contrast, but it tends to blend in a little. The Satin Black look of the Hood Stinger doesn’t hide away and you can tell it’s there. The Torch Red screams out and I love it on the dark Watkins Glen Gray. The Satin Black complements the rest of the look.
If you look at the Grand Sport Collector Edition (Z25), it has the Satin Black stripes (DUR) not the shiny Carbon Flash (DNE), it looks better and meaner!
