Here is what I have to put up with weather wise. So I do my detailing outside. A little cool in the mornings sometimes, so I have to wait until around 11 AM or so. Shorts and tea shirt are the way to go. Don't you feel sorry for me?

That's nice, but you still live in Arizona. I'd rather live by the ocean and deal with winter.
As for detailing, I clean it enough to look good from 5 ft. I don't go crazy, I'd rather drive it.

I just purchased my car and had most of it wrapped, and then all ceramic’d. After driving home (450 miles), I washed it inside and out, detailed it, and put it up for the winter. Obsessive and overkill probably, but it’s my first Corvette!

I must admit that while talking to my buddies about this thread my sweetie says to me, "You take better care of that car than me!" So I said to her, "Honey, don't I always offer to soap you up and down and dry you off and am willing to buff and polish you all over?" She just responds with a dirty look and one word..."Pig!"

I enjoy the result of detailing mine, do not enjoy the aches and pains that come after.

No. But I have yet to run it through a car wash so no swirls yet. Laser jammers are still properly aimed, auxiliary rear view mirror stays adjusted. I drive it when it's not perfectly clean. It's black so it only stays clean for an hour after I wash it anyway.

I'd much rather be driving it on a twisty mountain road near here than cleaning or detailing it. I also came to truly realize that it's a Chevrolet, and it's depreciating the same whether it's detailed and sitting in my garage or whether I'm driving it.

I finally got to this point this weekend! My car was pristine all the time, no rock chips, but was in the garage a lot. Only had about 1000 miles on it, but not driven much due to a house remodel over the last year.

Saturday we went with a caffeine and gasoline group on a 3 hour drive. This was our first drive with this group. There was a little bit of interstate and a lot of two lane twisties. I was expecting a speed limit cruise that would never break 3500 rpm. Wow, was I wrong.

I don't know how many time I was close to redline, but it was a lot. I ended up shifting to M and using the paddles to keep the rev's up in the curves. The 8 speed transmission was incredible. They really opened it up in the twisites, felt like I was back at Spring Mountain. When I got home, I had a few chips in the front end and spoiler from rocks and road debris. For the first time, I didn't really care. I had so much fun driving this car like it was supposed to be driven, the chips didn't bother me.

So know, I will take care of the car, keep it clean the best I can, but I am going to go out and drive the damn thing like it was meant to be driven! It really opened my eyes to the full Corvette experience.

I think that instead of car washes for Jeeps, their detail shops will actually PUT MUD ON the Jeep for you! There are times when I see a muddy Jeep that I actually wonder if that mud has been on there for a long time and they would actually be upset if the rain washed it clean!

I'm with you Dan. Just a personal thing, but I like my things clean and new-looking. I also enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.

It's also part of me just liking to be outside. If the car is taken care of, I'll always find something to clean, paint, repair around the house. I love doing yard work too for the same reason.

For me, keeping my car detailed is part of the process of owning a nice car.

Merry Christmas all!

I love the instant gratification when I finish. Step back and that a look at the results of my labor of love.

Yes! First time I got on a track I was amazed at how all concern about babying the car go instantly out the window
