Better yet, have a rendezvous with the GM Zone dealer rep. when he's at a Chev. dealership. A face to face with your C7 dash just outside the Chev. store may gain empathy from the rep. You may have to engineer a timing deal to Shangai the rep. with a surprise visit though, since they're not going to be interested in agreeing to analyze a car far out of warranty. He can't say no to at least looking at it if you do it right.

Would that be GM factory/corporate or your local dealer specifically? My dealer submitted an “adjustment” to GM to have mine done outside the warranty period, and that came to a deductible of about $1200 for me. I’m certainly not going for that.

Do you know why they are holding the car for 15-20 days?

Great news to hear! But losing your car for 3 weeks Let us know of any future fails or successes with your dash or anything else on your car.

It's my understanding that the vinyl materials used on 1LT and 2LT dashes are the same. 3LTs are different because they're covered in real leather and that's where the adhesive failures are originating. Am I confused here?

FL. My car has had quite a few issues so I have a letter from GM extending the warranty, but doesn't include the dash???

I just told them to keep it while they wait on the part. Took it in last thurs to get the super random overheating checked, climate control display doesn't work sporadically, oil change, alignment, and the dash. They said it'd be 3 more days on dash part to get here, so I was guesstimating worst case scenario.

Quite happy the dealer fought to get it covered though TBH. But I expect it will just happen again. So getting front window partially tinted and using solar shades!

My car just turned over 10k miles and I just noticed that mine is doing this also. The area around the central defrost area extending about 2 inches down the dash is loose. The defrost duct there is also loose. 2014 3LT I don't know of a good GM dealer in the central Texas area but I have an extended warranty that I guess I can check with.

[QUOTE=owc6;1598092645]Can we get some more pics from folks who are have problems?[/QUOTE

2018 Z06, Had it about three months and saw this. I brought it to the service department yesterday and within 30 seconds of seeing it the service adviser was ordering a new dash. I asked if this was common and she said it was the third one she had seen in the last two months. I was in there a total of five minutes, no hassle getting them to warranty it. When I had spoken to my sales rep before I went up there he had said there was a TSB for it, but he wasn't there to ask. When I asked the adviser about the TSB she wasn't aware of one so not sure if my sales guy was wrong that there was a TSB. I'll try and catch up with him when I get back over there. Please excuse the dust, been sitting in the garage for a few weeks. Dealership was Rick Hendricks in Norfolk.

REPAIR UPDATE
While washing the vehicle and cleaning the interior I was HORRIFED to see my new dash already doing the exact same thing, the leather is pulling away from the opening for the HUD, particularly at the pointed ends. Dealer inspected and made an appointment for next Tuesday for repairs. If I understand the GM warranty correctly, all dealer repairs using GM parts come with a one year guarantee regardless of vehicle warranty. Spoke with a Vette specialist at the dealer and he acknowledged the early years of C7 dash issues. Found out my 2016 was built in June of 2015, I wonder if the replacement dash had sat in some where house for years? Will update.

Didn’t say what level interior you have.

My September 2013 3LT had Kalahari interior. Full Kalahari color on all but a small strip of black next to the window. When I sold it after 3 1/2years it looked new, no issues. I looked, for those years of ownership and after, to define just what the materials were. Don’t want to start and argument for those with 3LT interiors who think they have real leather for other than the seating surface of a 3LT. Not even the seat bolsters are Napa Leather only the seating surface.

GM only says other than the 3LT seating surface all other soft touch materials are either “Mulan,” which is their coined name for synthetic leather, or Vinyl. Mulan was defined by a knowledgable person in Bowling Green as ~40% ground up leather scraps as a filler, and other materials similar to Vinyl. It’s made similar to Vinyl.

I bring that up as it appears from posts that the majority of posts with dash material shrinkage are 3LT. So from that info it appears 1 & 2LT have Vinyl on the dash and 3LT has “Mulan” synthetic leather. Apparently Vinyl is more durable and shrinks less.

After all that, wondering what do you have?

3LT is the only trim level that is having the delamination issue that I know of, leather, Mulan or whatever these crepe paper dashes are made of some one needs to step in and solve the issues. GM will be in bankruptcy again paying to replace faulty dashes. My original dash lasted three years, the repair didn't last three MONTHS, so I fail to see how sun, weather, heat, etc. had anything to do with my failure other than faulty fabrication from the get go at who ever GM receives these parts from. Faulty or inappropriate adhesive along with too narrow of an anchoring strip on the reverse side seems to be the issue, the adhesive is being overcome by the material shrinking, once the bond is broke, the dash shrivels up like a dried prune. I see your interior was brown while mine is black, perhaps the problem is color related among others. Some of the other examples I have seen were also black come to think of it.

My 2014 3LT ended up having the delaminated dash issue. Went with a 2LT the second time around. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a permanent fix for the 3LT dashes. I doubt GM will step in with an engineered solution as the C7 platform is coming to an end.

The simple solution is to quit with the fragile dashes and use the 1LT/2LT dash on the 3LT as well.

If I had a 3LT dash that needed replacement I would ask for this change.

I just came from the Ron Fellows experience. Most of their cars are fully equipped 3LT's and I noticed a few dash's that showed that "worn patina" look with creases and different shades. Sounded good on paper but I'm glad I ended up with a 2LT after actually seeing what it looks like.

So I dropped my car off for the repair to the repair, at the same time I ask that they do the MRC computer update. Before I even got the words out of my mouth she snapped "that's not covered under warranty". I explained I was aware of that and fully expected to pay for the service. Clueless to the upgrade comes back and quotes me $ 190.00, thought maybe I was getting a deal to make up for other issues, and gladly accepted. Before the shuttle even got me home, she called back saying she made a mistake, the cost was $ 690.00. I asked what part of the GM printout clearly stating the total cost was 350 which I had presented with my request she did not understand? Short answer " that's what my manager said". Same jackwagon that originally made me wait for district manage approval.

My 2017 3lt had the dash replaced last summer. I noticed over Christmas my replaced dash is already pulling apart. I also plan on seeing if I can have the dash replaced with the non-leather covered dash.

Well, after pleading with GM, they are only willing to take half off my dashboard replacement. What’s even more discouraging is reading that some owners that have had theirs done and are showing signs of failure already. When I first bought my car, I purchased an extended warranty that was supposed to cover interior and exterior problems. Guess what? The company called “The Protector” doesn’t cover “lifting”. Wow!! I promise you had they told me that up front, I surely would’ve passed on that warranty.
