Do you really think GM cares about negativity--everything they build GM has Sold----it will be a slow ramp up on 2019s and GM only cares about one thing------BOTTOM LINE---$700 odd million has to be paid back.

you're just ranting and not reading what i posted. I clearly said negatively impacting SALES... or do you not equate slow sales with impacting THE BOTTOM LINE.

People need to stop thinking a car line will run into 8-9 years. Car styles, performance and electronics change so fast it wouldn't be wise. Hence is part of the slow down and large numbers at the lots. HD radio which some of the cheapest cars had for many years is not going to cut it. Its sad when my 2015 focus has it with side warning, lane change and so on and it still not on a vett. Other then adding camera's in the front they have not done much. The one big thing they did do was the A10 which is on a camaro, new mustang, zr1, gt500 soon and your telling me not only are they leaving it out for the 2018 but also the 2019? That would be very sad and pretty much writing the rest off.

as for people thinking things like this cant/wont happen.. all you need to do is look back at mustangs buyers in 2010.

I'm with a few on here that think the 2019 will have the A10 even if they have to tig weld that damn thing on. Then 6-8 months later.. ME time.

The only future cars I see are the zr1 and the ME.. no other c8 design at MD's or BK.

I See the ME rolling around. I have to wait and see.. ahhhhhhh I'm assuming there is no 12% off when the MEs come out

This news ending 2018s in January followed by the start up of the 2019 model year is completely confusing.

It makes no sense unless they also plan to end production of the 2019 model year early too in order to accommodate building of the 2020 C8.

That's the only thing that remotely makes sense. Even if that is the case (C8 production) it's going to screw all Corvette owners because all of a sudden we will all experience deeper depreciation because our cars become one additional year older in a blink of an eye

As for GM going to all electric cars that makes total sense based on their success of the Chevy Volt.

Sorry but that makes ZERO SENSE.

They have tons of inventory of new 2016s, 2017s and a bunch of 2018s seating on dealer lots so somehow they are going to significantly raise prices on 2019s.

Harvey must be having a bad day. Huge price increase? Somebody is going to pay? Everything I thought was real is now fake.

Having just moved to event code 3000 last week, it's to late to make an adjustment without there being consequences for someone on this deal.
-Do I keep my order and take delivery of it in January when it will essentially be a model year old already (2019 will likely be rolling down the line by the time I see my car) with possibly outdated appearance/tech?
- Do I forfeit my deposit and cancel? Losing $1000 in the grand scheme of things is not a huge deal I guess, but worse than that.....
-If I cancelled my order my dealer is still on the hook for that car and I'm dropping my problem off in his lap. I risk ruining that relationship and my integrity as a man of my word.
Damn you GM......This is not how I visioned my 1st Corvette buying experience to go.
I wish there was more information because I have to make a decision, AND SOON!
I'd dump it. Revise the deposit to a 2019. Or, better yet, buy a ME C8. This reminds me of all the guys that broke their necks to pay premium new pricing for a 2013 C6 Sterling Blue 427 vert, because they thought the end of the world was coming with the C7. The laugh was on them. Not only was/is the C7 State-Of-The-Art, but it was value priced, all things considered.

This'll be endless months of reading some late Nellie defending their 2018/19 purchases, as if GM/Corvette is about to get stupid with the C8. Not gonna happen.

The money that some are wasting by buying those new C7s now, would likely be better spent on a new C8. Just like the tail end 2013 C6 buyers. Or, so it seems to me. ....

I like your comment about the huge investment GM has made in the plant.
New paint facility aside, if they could produce 30,000+ vehicles annually before, then how many can they make in a plant twice the size?

Will C7 and ZR1 be produced on different lines, and will C8 be on a third line?

My guess..... the mid-engine vehicle will have it's own name, and will be treated as a 2nd Corvette model. And not as the replacement for C7.
And the "Corvette SUV" will arrive around 2021 or 2022 to compete with Macan, Cayanne, both Jag SUV's, and Lambo's, and Maserati's....and now we here that Ferrari is getting into the SUV game too.

I see three Vette models by 2021 or 2022. All made in BG.

If you are buying a 2018 you have just seen the value take a noise dive even before you got it.

So when the 2019 goes on the used market in 2019 does it make it zero years old. Things like this are just a joke and make the overall view of the Vette take a hit.

As for the Mid Engine have fun working on that, that is the one thing I loved about the vette it was always very easy to work on. The used market on a mid-engine, massed produced sports car will not be that great. I love my C3,C5, and C6 since they can be torn down and built back up in no time at all.

I bet Mid Engine will be a short lived experiment.

Totally understandable about feeling completely irritated about this completely unexpected announcement.

If you plan to keep it for five plus years I would not give it a second thought but if you plan to sell it or trade it in the next few years I would see if the dealer can help in anyway to change your order to a 2019. If they can't if it was me I would cancel the order even though I would lose the $1000 deposit because I get it back five fold by getting a 2019 when I sell it a one or two years.

With the '18s being built the week of Jan 22, and the '19s being built the week of Jan 29, it is conceivable that the bigger dealers here could have both year models on the same truck delivered at the same time. More WTF.

I was just kidding, I know it's not that rare, although my color combo of Torch Red with 1LT Gray interior is also not a common choice either. Most Torch Red cars I see for sale have a black interior. But I am not fooling myself and thinking that makes mine worth more, it's just nice to have something a little unique.

That happens every year, and with every car model when there is a rolling production switch of model years - typically, the last (i.e.) 2017 would be followed by the first 2018 built just a few minutes apart. My 2018 GS (vin #29) arrived at a big forum dealer on a truck with 1 other 2018 (vin #16) and 9 2017's.

So, possibly you may be able to go to a dealer in Feb/Mar time frame and find a new 2017, 2018 and 2019 all at once. Now how cool is that!!!!

Why not? It seems dealers would demand a price increase so they can move their unsold 2017s and now 2018s

I can just imagine the nonsense that will be coming out of the mouths of the car salesmen trying to sell a 2017 over a 2019 for nearly the same price.

The same guys who told me "Spice Red" was discontinued and replaced by Long Beach Red. When I corrected him and told him Spice Red was an interior color option and not an exterior color, he "corrected" me and told me Corvette only has one red interior.

Walked away...
