Width of ACS Splash Guards vs. GM Accessory Guards
Anybody know if the ACS splash guards are wider (i.e., stick out farther) than the GM accessory guards? I know the ACS are longer but can't find width/extrusion measurements. If so, wonder how much wider?
ACS say their guards are 30% wider than the GM guards, however, they don't say if they're wider than the GM OEM ones that come on the car or the wider GM accessory guards.
TIA
Rick

Burning Brakes
I checked with ACS a couple weeks ago and they said they are 5/8" wider and 3/4" longer than the so called wider GM aftermarket ones.

I was wondering this EXACT same thing...... I already have a set of the GM Splashguards ( the extra cost ones) and am switching to a GS and didn't know whether to use the ones I have, or buy the ACS IF they are longer and wider.

I have the ACS guards and they are a little wider and longer than the GM ones.

^Being that you just installed them, do the back ones just slide back into the same slots in the rear? And do the front ones slide into the same slots and the 1 bolt at the bottom?
Thanks!
Thanks!

That is odd. When I spoke with ACS, they knew exactly how much wider and longer. I ordered the ACS front mud guards. Easy installation. You simply remove the factory plastic piece and install this in same location.

There are no back ones, fronts only. They use three screws that the GM guards cover to attach, plus the one underneath.

I was hesitant on splash guards, the sticky PS2s flinging every piece of road debris changed my mind very quickly. Ordered from ACS their front guards and factory GM rears. Literally a few minutes to install each one and the look really good, function even better, and at the same time they don't stick out and scream 1978 Caprice station wagon.

The GM ones are a much cleaner looking install on the wheel well side.

GMs don't go low enough to cover the front of the sideboards

The OEM GM Splash Guards were not intended to go lower in front of any side skirts.
The OEM GM Splash Guards meet the bottom of the C7 quarter panels perfectly and were engineered and designed that way.
GM would have no way to make splash guards that would go lower to cover any side skirts and as there are many aftermarket styles.
As one can easily see from the images below the OEM GM Splash Guards are a "perfect" fit to the bottom front quarter panel and the rear quarter panel.
If a C7 owner did not install side skirts, would you really want to have a splash guard protruding 3/4" lower than the C7 quarter panels like the ACS splash guards do?
I don't think they would look good at all.
ACS with side skirts, possibly. ACS without side skirts, no way.
The images below are the OEM GM Splash Guards. The images speak for themselves.

I do have to clarify we have the carbon fiber side skirts and thats the reason we ordered the ACS vs GM for the front. The ACS gives that little bit extra coverage to the front edge of the side skirt.

I have ACS side skirts, however, the cosmetics of the splash guards being flush, above or below the skirts doesn't matter to me. I already have the wider GM accesory guards and still have a bunch of chips even with the ACS skirts.
I'm wondering if the ACS guards provide any extra protection to the rear brake intake ducts and quarters? I don't want to spend twice as much for them if they don't result in better protection.
I've read every thread on the forum relative to this issue and there seems to be two camps. Some say they offer better protection and some say they're a waste of money...
If it matters, my car is a Z06.

Sorry to be a late comer to this thread, but it seems odd to me that ACS would only make front guards (perhaps, that's no longer the case?). I wonder what kind of marketing decision making process went into that... especially since they apparently successfully make fronts and the backs would be so similar in all regards: design, manufacturing, and mounting, for instance.

In fact ACS just sells the GM rear splash guards with their design wider deeper front guards when you order a combo.
