How many plan on cancelling their 2018 order?
With Rick Conti's announcement today that 2018s are going to stop production early and the 2019s will start around the end of January, how many of you that have 2018 orders in the system plan on cancelling that order?
I'm keeping my order alive! I'm especially looking forward to the possibility that my C7 could share my birthday of December 8th! So I can't turn my back on my possible twin
I would also imagine if you cancel an order at this point you would lose your deposit? If true, that could be a costly decision, as you'd also be almost guaranteed the 2019 price will not be as good as the 2018 either.
Either way, GM is going to need to tell us what the 2019 changes are going to be pretty soon! Hopefully some info will start to leak out on here in the next few weeks.

^^^ But does it have to be an 18 in summer 18? Couldn't it be a 19 in summer 18? Or an 18 in the fall of 17?

Nope! Going through with my order. I’ve waited long enough. There will always be something faster and badder. This car will be more than enough for me. The specific improvements that I would want I doubt they’ll put in anyhow. A front engine, fire breathing, rear wheel drive, born in America with the Corvette emblem, is something that I’ve wanted since I was a kid. My car is/will be gorgeous. Maybe after a few years if I really like the new ones (C8, C9) and can afford them, I’ll trade for one. But I doubt it.

Everyone, keeping their order may be surprised with possible GM incentives going on when they take delivery!

I won't be pulling out, I have not received a TPW date yet however It would most likely be built around the time they announce the changes and at that point it will be too late. I wanted the 2018 because of the colour changes across the trim models. Saved me 6k to go with 2LT over 3LT for driver side colour.
The only way I'd regret not getting a 2019 is maybe if they added the 10 speed and give a hp bump, otherwise I'm totally fine with my 2018.
As a side note, I noticed you got your TPW for the first week of December Patman. I put my order in August 13th and I also ordered Torch Red, so I'm going to guess its close to your date as well.

I wonder if dealers had a long heads up on this change? If not, I bet they aren't happy, especially if they ordered a ton of 2018s.

Unfortunately I have to say I am seriously considering a cancellation.
I just received a TPW of 12/11 on a 2018 Z06 carbon 65.
I'm aware there is sure to be a price increase but the 65 has an MSRP of nearly 105K and I'm able to get supplier pricing, so needless to say I would still get supplier on the 2019 as well. There are some pieces on the 65 that are not exactly something I would order if I wasn't forced to take it as part of the package, therefore I know I could spec a MY '19 to a very equivalent MSRP.
I really do like the carbon 65 package but I know I will be upset if I end up with an immediately out dated model due to an appearance/tech upgrade when, in my situation, I could get the most recent changes for a round about same price.
I really struggled with making the choice of automatic or manual transmission, ultimately it came down to the seven-speed manual because all the issues I have heard of about the A8, and the 2 problems I've witnessed first hand with one.
If the A10 is going to make its way into the 2019 that is where I would prefer to be, something is definitely up!
My head is all twisted up like a pretzel right now ( I know I know, first world problems, Right!?!)
Damn you GM...... My first ever Corvette or new car in general, buying experience is certainly more stressful than I had envisioned......

Accessories can be bought later though won't be factory installed , so it mainly comes down to the exterior color.
Personally I don't love that color enough.

But then the skeptic in me takes over and says.....well of course GM/dealers are going to say there are no changes, they have thousands of Corvettes ( 2016's, 2017's and apparently now 2018's) they need to unload. If they came out and admitted there are changes in the works for MY '19 they would have to HEAVILY discount and incentivize all their current stock.
From my perspective GM has much more to lose financially by admitting there are major updates/changes than anything they stand to gain, with the ZR1 being excluded from my theory.
I guess time will tell......

Seems to me if GM is going to a very early 2019 MY corvette introduction, there likely is something significant between the 18 and the 19 ( like for instance maybe they figured out how to shoe horn an A10 into the 19 and or other big changes ) or else why do it ? Doesn’t make any sense otherwise.

According to here though, no changes for the 2019 except for Mobil 1 0w40 as the new factory fill:

What's the point of a deposit if the buyer can back out of the deal and get it back? That's not good for the dealer at all, anyone could just leave a deposit, order a car and back out of the deal and then they are stuck with that car (which could be hard to sell if it's a weird order) At least with a non refundable deposit the dealer gets something in the case of people backing out.
I truly hope not too many people plan on cancelling their orders. It would certainly strain that relationship with the dealer.

I'm assuming there will be no Carbon 65 package for 2019s so also assume those who want that package will have to stay with their 2018 orders.
Personally, I got a good look at the Carbon 65 at Carlisle and can't figure what makes it worth and additional $15,000.
I believe there may be substantial incentives from GM for those who don't cancel their 2018 orders, especially if GM starts receiving a lot of cancellations.
