180 degree headers C7Z... DONE!!
So this is what I posted in the Z06 section. I thought it’s time to share with all C7 owners since it’s all done a complete success!!
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-the-work.html
I love the sound of 180 degree headers and been dreaming of one for years now. Front engine makes our car much more difficult to fab one up. After seeing Tinmatt's build thread, I'm sold!!
Here is the beginning of my build. Fabricator friend, Aron at Acedautoworx wanted to jump on this challenge. He said he is always down for a unique build.
Stock headers out.

Flat collectors came in, this will be interesting.

9/26 update
36” is the magic equal length number. 36” is good for engine making its powers in under 7k rev so I think I’m good there with the LT4

9/30 Update from fabricator on. Got snakes?? Onto the passenger side since Monday. He passenger side gave him hell but he figured it out the path to 36” runners.

Some weld ****!!

No “bundle of snakes” on passenger side. “Bowl of spaghetti” according to my fabricator. It was extremely difficult to keep it equal length and runner specific each cylinder routes

10/06 update!! Almost done according to Aron! Maybe Monday!!

First cold start, iPhone quality. It’s so freaken beautiful. So loud in person!! Video on the dyno tune soon.
She revs so fast now!
Quick 10 seconds pull from phone cam inside the car. She screams such exotic notes!!
Got the car tuned. Number isn’t as high as I would expect but this is a Mustang dyno after all.
Went back to delete the X pipe to test for sound preference. First 30 Seca is with X pipe and last 30 secs is without.
This is what Timatt did for his C5Z, amazing!

Have to hear at WOT. Cruising speed, it’s stock like or maybe even more quiet. Give it any throttle and it sounds amazing. It has a much more exotic note and throttle respond is so much quicker. All was through stock exhaust too.

Cold start is extremely loud, any throttle is so sweet too. What I love most is cruising freeway speed, it’s probably more quiet than stock.... My new R888R tires were louder than my exhaust at cruising speed and throttle.

That sounds bitch'n!! It's also a work of art. WELL DONE
And it must've cost a pretty penny.
Four questions
1) the wood board pictured in a few shots was that temporary to hold the pipes in place? I assume it was removed when the exhaust was completed.
2) why do we see pics of orange exhaust piping but don't see it as part of the finished exhaust?
3) how much hp did it add!
4) BTW, does anyone know what this is (pic below)?

Oil Cooler
Re question #4 - that is the oil cooler, cooled by the engine coolant system.
OP - system is gorgeous and sounds great. Will be interesting to see what the HP/Torque curve looks like once you get it tuned.

2. Orange are actually ICE LEGO pieces to mock up the path for the piping to achieve equal length. Saved from wasting material.
3. Will get the car tuned by Cunningham Motorsports on Friday. Don’t think it will gain peaks HP but over all faster rev should be the key with this design. Something you can maybe only timed with timing back to back videos of another A8 car with headers and intake vs mine.
4. I swear my rev is much quicker than before.
That’s an oil cooler brick. Will get a shield when I’m back to work on another project with Aron.

Does it have any kind of tune on it currently?
With your faster rev, is it only the exhaust mod, or anything else too while it was apart?
Is that the factory heat shield in the tunnel?
