Everyone talking about a ME Vette, but are their those that like a FE Vette BETTER?

16 Vettes and counting…..
It is widely acknowledged that the current Corvette is a front mid-engine car. The new version would be a rear mid-engine car.

There is no possible way it's outhandling a C7 (pure, 100% handling). It doesn't have the tires, the mag ride, the aero, the chassis, etc. This notion that the 328 has a stiffer chassis and suspension is nonsense. The only reason it doesn't have any body roll is because it's not pulling any real lateral g's.
Try comparing it to even a Z51, or better yet, something with a Z07 package. Power aside, that car isn't coming close. FFS, modern Ferraris can barely keep up with a Z07 package C7 in handling.

And, I already addressed that my car did NOT have Z51 or other versions...
FWIW - I have more than 700,000 miles in Corvettes.... 300K miles in P-cars.... I have but 40K miles in my 328... which is one hell of a lot more miles than most Ferrari drivers even have on their cars, much less behind the wheel.

With a ME design, they can do more with the engine, such as DOHC. The current FE is limited to a single camshaft buried in the engine with pushrods because of the lower hood profile.
The FE is still very capable in the handling department because the design has a transaxle in the rear. This gives almost 50-50 weight balance. Most of us will never be able to drive a C7 any where near its potential.

I need to be able to put a 26" rollerboard suitcase in the Corvette. Would have to see if the storage space was adequate on the ME. One of the great things about the C6 & C7 was the amount of usable storage space.

^Hey, back in 91, not many true automotive enthusiasts would have considered that ugly. While chrome bumpers, sim tops, drum brakes and "wire-spoke" hubcaps were still a thing, that was a hell of an accomplishment for Acura and a leap for the general industry.

Those are what Id consider true exotics, if I could afford one (not!) and it actually had a stick, in a hot second. In general no dont like em.
Whats worse is a mfr trying to do the "me too" thing. The C7s do some fantastic stuff but just dont strike the same chord as say whats in the pics above. No way.

That seems exceedingly unlikely, since the Corvettes beatup many modern mid-engine cars on track.

Being mid-engined, and with more HP, didn’t seem to allow the new $200K Acura NSX to beat the $92K Grand Sport. If mid-engine is so obviously superior how does that happen?

Don't be giving the front engine sports car a 10 count just yet......

I don't care where the engine is! I drive the car as a "Travel" car and go any place I feel like driving. My wife travels with me. If I can't put a couple of suitcases in it and some other essential "stuff" to make a trip, then I don't want the car not matter how great it performs.
If I were racing, then the converse would be true. I don't need to load stuff in the car and carry a passenger so were the ME to perform the best, then I'd get one.
I highly doubt GM is designing the Corvette to not be able to be a touring car. If they are, they're chasing off customers.

I wouldn't worry as GM tends to scrutinize the details when it comes to corvettes...
I'm confident the new rear mid engine vehicle will knock our socks off...
Cadillac is footing a large portion of the build plus a good portion of the original and initial research and develpment work were done by "old" GM..
Pre bamckrupcy and the costs were wiped away...
I'm kidding of course but with all that the c8 could retail less than the current car...or GM s profit per vehicle could be even greater...
