Protecting the top...
Hey Guys,
I am buying a C7 soon and already have a C3. I want to protect the tops as they will be handled the most. So I thinking a clear wrap or Paint protection. What do you guys think?
Suggestions on brand would be very helpful. I know about xpel and Rvinyl. Are there any others that you would recommend?
The C3 is a weekend driver, the C7 will be my daily.
I am looking for this to be DIY if possible. I can't imagine it being that difficult, but I have never done it; just an observation.
Thanks.

I don't know of anyone who has done Expel or something similar for the roof.
So long as the roof is clean and you don't have sandpaper for skin, you aren't going to scratch it taking off or putting it on; if on the other hand, you drop it or it becomes part of the flying roof club, Expel isn't going to keep it from getting damaged.

I wrapped mine. One of the most important parts to protect imo. I handle my roof a lot. Without the wrap, if you've got ANY dirt whatsoever on it, you will scratch the roof by handling it.
P.S. if you have a C7, I predict the C3 won't get driven anymore.

What did you use and what brand?

I used 3M Pro even though Expel is the favourite on this forum. The top is actually very safe when stored in the back as nothing can touch it. It's the handling of the roof that will scratch it.

The scratching when stored is more of a concern for the C3. The t-tops sit in the back. They are in a bag, but its a small space to work and have had a few close calls already.

No, I had it professionally installed when I had some (a lot) of the rest of the car done. The incremental cost was very minimal to have the roof added.

I bought a pair of rubber dimpled work gloves to give me a better grip, minimize scratching and most of all to avoid smearing my transparent roof with any sweat, oils, etc. from my hands. Best two buck preventative measure I've bought for the Vette IMHO...
