Default Is there some sort of requirement that dealerships all suck

22 days ago I brought my car with two simple check up items:

1. Alignment is off. It's been off since day one and it's worse now.
2. I have a vibration at 55mph. It may be a bent wheel (hit a bump thing on the highway).

Currently:
My car has been diagnosed with a slightly bent wheel
My tire is flat and has been flat for 11 days
My car is not aligned because it has a flat.

So because you are having some sort of problem with a single dealer, they all suck? With that kind of logic, if you are a village idiot, everyone is a village idiot.

Other dealership by me:
Bring in car for repair after it got hit in a parking lot

Me: I think it needs an alignment now too (a truck crushed the front end, on video)
Dealership: We will of course check that

Pick up car: There are parts still in the trunk. They make we wait an hour while they get the car on a lift to figure out why there are parts in my trunk and reinstall them.

Ask about alignment. No, we didn't check. We can do it for you for $xxx and you can submit the claim to the insurance company if you'd like.

I get that you are assuming he's only ever been to one dealer and one dealer only over the course or his life but I'd risk the notion that he may have other experiences to pull from.

I know I'm not the only one who worries any time you have to go to the dealer. It's customer service Russian roulette.

I get the feeling you hang out here just to troll people.

It takes VERY little time on this forum to realize what he says is right. They ALL suck. Some suck less, some suck more.

Dealerships are the worst.

I have a problem when people make blanket statements about an entire group based on their experience with a few. In a human context we call that kind of behavior racism. (No, I'm not accusing him of being "racist" just saying it's the same kind of logic.) My experience is much different. I have over 20 year's experience with one Chevrolet dealer and a limited amount with another plus a lot of experience with different brands: Acura, Cadillac, and Mercedes being a few, and in MY EXPERIENCE I have NEVER been treated like Village Idiot says he has been treated. I have NEVER experienced dealer incompetence, dealer inaction, or dealer reluctance to perform repairs. I have ALWAYS been treated with courtesy and respect in a timely manner.

So when someone comes along with MINIMAL information and says "All dealers suck" I can't take him seriously and I have doubts about the veracity of his experiences. If that really is your definition of "trolling" then so be it. I suggest you put me on ignore if my posts upset you so much.

Sorry you're having such problems "VI"

I have had the same Corvette people working on my cars for the past 27 years here in Texas - six Corvettes - more than 700,000 miles. They're terrific....

I've also had superb service in Texas, Colorado, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, and California.

Actually it's not called racism in human terms. That only applies where race is involved. The blanket label is "stereotyping", which may or may not have to do with race, height, weight, IQ, economic status, shoe size...you name it.

In many (not all) cases, the person that feels so thrilled with their dealership is simply unaware of what is being done. maybe they don't know a lot about cars, maybe they only see them as a way to get from point A to point B, who knows?
The most experienced and well versed members here would more than likely NOT recommend going to a dealership.

My wife has a Lexus and I can definitively say the dealer has outstanding service. So no, not all dealers suck.

I think its safe to say obviously not every single dealer sucks, however you can definitely see how bad apples can spoil the bunch. There should be a way to weed out the bad ones

I live by a Chevy dealer that's literally 5 minutes away. I took my car there once since it was so close. The service manager was actually really nice, but his people were questionable. When I got my car back, I had a small, but noticeable scratch on my front fender and a scratched up factory shift ****. It also came back with greasy smudges all over the door. I made them replace the shift ****, but they wouldn't fix the fender scratch. They claimed it was factory defect and I had to take it to my dealer of purchase to get warranty repair. My original dealer said it was not a defect and quoted me for cool $1000 since it's fiberglass. I ended up not fixing it since it was so minor.

Aerovette is correct. They ALL suck. Some suck less, some suck more. Now I only go to my dealer of purchase which is 30 minutes away.

Nope, the one I bought my C7 from is perfectly fine; no complaints with either service (my C6 and C7) or the sales experience buying my C7.

Exclusive service for Covettes would help. As long as you have the same techs servicing Sparks and Sonics, you’re generally not going to get that premium care that some think they deserve. I guess it’s a way of Chevy keeping the flagship owners grounded (tongue-in-cheek).

Fortunately, my dealership has a Corvette specialist, and my overall experience with service has been stellar. Other vehicles and dealerships... not so much.

You also have the same techs working on SUVs and pickups that, in many cases, cost more than most C7s. Fortunately those owners don't think they're special and demand exclusive or "premium" care too.

I have had very good service from my local dealer. I looked around the forums and went to one that was recommended.

Yep, first and foremost in the dealer's mind once you have purchased the car.

IMHO, the corvette should be treated differently by a dealer, or let it become a Cadillac brand. People who buy Corvettes are more particular (and for the most part) more enthusiastic about the brand. Chevrolet should cultivate this!

The last time I was at the dealer the service manager even says "yep you corvette guys are more demanding usually but we understand"

People don't buy the more expensive suvs etc as a fun lifestyle type vehicle as much as the vette guys do.

So far, Hendrick in Cary NC has provided very good service. I get a Corvette Tech every time I bring it in for an oil change.

My dealership service is excellent. As is my Technician Ken, who as per above, does every oil change on my car in addition to all else. In fact at my dealer, only two individuals are allowed to even move a Corvette, e.g., my Tech and the Service Manager. No one else can. No one else does (they do not wish to be fired).

I have referred many Corvette friends there, and they too have a 10+ rating on all their Corvette servicing experiences at my/this dealer. It is Power Chevrolet in Sublimity, OR, and ask for Ken to work on your baby.
