FYI - Apple CarPlay Users
Just an "FYI" for all the Apple CarPlay users out there.
The recent IOS 11 update for the iPhone has created some problems when using CarPlay. Some of the screen icons weren't reacting when you would touch the infotainment screen was the most annoying. I did a search and found several reports of this involving use with MyLink. I also ran into the same problem with my wife's 2017 Ford Escape Sync 3 system using both our phones (iPhone 7 and an iPhone 6S Plus). So I called Apple Customer Service and they had me backup my system (which I do anyway) to my computer (or you can back it up to the iCloud) and then they had me go into "Settings" and do a "Reset" to "Erase All Content and Settings" and reload everything from the backup. This fixed the problem.
So if you are having any problems with Apple CarPlay since downloading the new IOS 11, give this a try.

i have found that after the update
a quick press of a gui button instead of a prolonged press works.

Thanks for the heads up.
Just another reason to stay with the iPhone 5. The other reason is not willing to **** away $900.00 on the iPhone 8.

I was using the latest version (11.0.3) when I noticed it. I hadn't driven the car for over 2 weeks (on vacation) and when I started using it again on Monday, I noticed the problems. That's when I started the troubleshooting using both phones and both cars with the same issues.

Also anyone who has a 6, 6s, or 7, has no reason to upgrade to an 8 (or even between the 6, 6s, and 7). Unless they needed more memory or for some reason HAVE to have the better cameras.
The iPhone X is the first iPhone since the 6 that actually has a different form factor (4 years is a long time to ride out a design, but Apple did it with the 4, 4S, 5, and 5S).
I'll upgrade my 6s to an X (next year when X v2 comes out).
I'll need to see if CarPlay works on mine, I haven't tried it at all yet.

Pretty sure iOS 11 works on a 5S (if not a regular 5). So it's not hardware that's the problem.

Switched away from Apple. I bought a LG G6 phone and use Verizon.
My I phone lost contacts and texts going to and from my phone were also to going to my other lines.
ATT and Apple both can take a hike.
