Default HUD gremlins - parts 1 & 2

2017 Grans Sport delivered in January.

I usually have the HUD set to the circular tach display. When I got the car I do not think it showed street speed limits on this display. The Owner's Manual does not show speed limits on this display (or any other so who nows how accurate they are).

A couple of months ago, speed limits started being displayed on this display. Actually very nice. As of yesterday, the speed limit is no longer displayed. (But speed limit is displayed on the display of speed, only).

Question: Are speed limits supposed to be displayed on the circular tach HUD display? Or, more generally, what HUD displays should show the speed limit?

Default HUD gremlins - part 2

As of yesterday, whenever I start the car in Weather, Eco or Touring, the HUD displays the speed and speed limit display no matter which display was on prior to turning off the car. The HUD display also changes to the speed and speed limit display when changing driving mode from Sport to Touring no matter what was being displayed in Touring before.

Obviously, my HUD is having problems.

But there is one other thing I noticed. Whatever HUD display I select for either of the Weather, Eco or Touring is automatically selected for the other two modes. I don't remember if this is normal or not?

Is it normal?

Hud stays the same no matter what driving mode I use. Haven't put it in Track yet.

I have my DIC set to sport all the time regardless of my driving mode and my HUD will not change. However, if I have the DIC set to change with the change of my driving mode, the HUD will change and display the corresponding view of the instrument cluster. I then must reset it to the view I want. Weather, Eco and Tour always start with the speed limit view. Sport mode shows the sport tach view and track mode shows the track tach view.

Th HUD is also tied to the seat memory recall settings.

My car (2015):
HUD always stays in the same display I had set up. I can change driving modes and it won't change. I also have my DIC to stay on sport regardless of driving mode

i can change HUD display, shut the car off and it'll be back to normal when I start again.

yours should do this as welll. Check and/or re-program your seat memory as well. Also, did you use a different FOB in the car? That might have an affect as well.

My HUD is unlinked from all other settings, and is always set to track, but randomly it will switch to sport mode. When I say randomly, I mean randomly. Weeks behaving, then not. then weeks behaving, then not, then yes, then not. Literally no pattern or sense.

It only goes to sport, not any other of the HUD options, and has done this for over 3 1/2 years.

From both the responses and what I've read online, my HUD is displaying the proper information since the display theme is linked to the driver mode. I hadn't driven it in a month while I was on a road trip so maybe I'm just not remembering what it did correctly.

Re the HUD being part of memory settings, the Owners Manual does not state that it is. The only memory problem appears to be mine. ;-(

I did use the 2nd key fob for a day or two recently and then switched back to the 1st one. I don't think that should affect other than the memory presets used but who knows.

Nobody has commented on the speed limit being displayed on the Sport HUD as it was until recently. Has anybody seen this?

Hmmmmm, I could be wrong about seat memory and HUD. I haven’t poked around the manual in a while.

Interesting about speed limit being displayed in HUD in sport. I’m away from my car for a few days. I’ll play with it when I’m home.

Assuming my HUD is working properly, I've discovered the following:

If the Display Theme is set to Link to Drive Mode, the HUD will change automatically to match the driving mode when 1) the car is started, and 2) when the driving mode is changed between Track, Sport and Tour/Eco/Weather.

If the Display Theme is set to follow a specific driving mode (Track, Sport or Tour) the HUD will not change automatically when started or changing drive mode. It will stay on the current display until manually changed.

I guess I don't have speed limit posted on my hud because I don't have Nav....I have to use Carplay! It works fine and only displays speed limit signs if I have a destination programed. On map only, never hud.

I have my theme unlinked and my HUD is always in track (my cluster always in sport, steering always in sport, and exhaust always in track).

Wish I could control all things individually and save them as a "my mode"
