Does anyone have a good A8

Only time will tell. If it is the AFM system that is wearing out TCs, one would expect more and more to fail as the mileage racks up. It's also interesting that those who drive in M mode w/ paddles seem to report problems less, which lends more credence to the AFM/TC damage theory.
The early A8s seemed to experience more early and the later ones seem to be better now, but I want to see what happens w/ these cars starting above 20K miles and beyond.

My 2017 GS has about 700 miles so far. The A8 seems to be somewhat erratic in its shifting. Hoping it is still "learning" my driving habits. My 2012 SRX shifted terrible during it's learning process, but shifts great now, so still hoping for improvement. Othwise no issues.

2017 Z - First 2k miles car would intermittently jerk & bang, then an AFM/DOD delete (plugs) during engine mods/tune. 5k now & its like driving a different car - smooth as silk. I still don't know why GM decided AFM was a good idea on these cars & that **** system is whats shelling these A8s.

My 2017 Z06 A8 only has 734 miles on it but it drives flawlessly . However with all the negative comments I started driving mine in M mode so it will not go in V4 mode. I got use to this mode and almost always drive it in M mode unless I am on a straight away and once in a while I will put it D mode. Went to M mode thinking it would help save the TC but ended up really enjoying M mode in the Sport setting. I love this car so much it will be my last Corvette till I cant drive anymore!

My 2017 GS A8 has performed flawlessly so far.
Across the GM brand there must be a couple hundred thousand vehicles
out there where A8s perform without issues while there's probably only been a couple
hundred +/- failures reported on this forum.
Did all 2017s receive the improved TC and fluid or were the improvements implemented at a certain build date during the year?
Anyone know?

I have 46,100 miles on mine. It's the best automatic transmission I have owned. Drive it hard and do a lot of wide open throttles and down-shifts. It has been perfect, knock on wood. Reading the forums I keep waiting for it to fail. I read a lot about these failures and I am under the perception that at most, 5 percent have issues.

Plus some guys have mentioned health reasons like bad back, hips and knees and that's why they cant drive a Manual Corvette because of pain when they push in the clutch. I was in my work truck the other day and ran into this guy in his 60's at the gas station with a 2013 C6 427 vert. I said nice car he said it is for sale and I asked him why . He said that shifting and pushing in the clutch caused him pain in his back and knees. I said I understand. He said he was going to trade it in for a C7 AUTOMATIC.

Joe, that's great! Do you predominantly drive in automatic mode or in M w/ paddles?

Incorrect, as I expect quite a few or probably most will go to their final resting place over the years to come as a result of general fatigue, being totaled out due to accidents or any number of other reasons with their A8 still working fine.

With the A8 you sorta get both worlds.

A little over 7,000 on my 2016 Z06 and working perfectly. I do either run mine in manual mode or use a Range module so mine never goes into V4 mode.
And this thread reminded me it is time to go into User CP and update the idiot filter.
