I know I shouldn't be but, I am, still, amazed at all the C7s with such low miles.

That said, I have a buddy with a '15 C7 A8 that has 58,000 trouble free miles on his car.

I have a 2016 Z with the A8 and I have put 19,000 miles on it and raced at LS Fest twice in the Grand Sport competition with autocross, drag and track and of course the hiway too. Last May I was second in the drag race as with launch control and the A8; it kicks the M7 butts and all the other cars too except the one with the 1000 hp!! It's an animal.

ALL gearboxes in any car are designed to break sooner or later.

The issue in the Corvette is the TC not the gearbox itelf! The gearbox is the same as in the Z06 capable of handling much higher power and torque. In fact I don't think I have read anywhere in this forum of an actual gearbox breaking down, not even in the Z06. I think the gearbox itself gets a bad reputation just because of a poor TC (or as I suspect the 4-cyl mode micro slip chewing it up). I drive mine in Tour or Sport and in the European version it never goes in to 4-cyl mode (except in Economy mode).

8000 miles since May (winter '16 build). Lots of interstate driving in Eco (no shifting?) No problems. My only complaint is the clunk into reverse first thing of the day. Must hold brake on longer than any other car I've had. There is a dealer fix for this?

^^^ There is, it's a small modification to prevent fluid from draining back while parked. It requires a full R&R of the transmission though, so I've not done it because it's just not a serious enough annoyance (to me) to merit letting a dealership take the car that far apart.

Sorry to hear about the clunking, but I'm pretty sure all they would have to do is Install a new stator shaft support assembly. The stator resides in the very center of the torque converter. Its job is to redirect the fluid returning from the turbine before it hits the pump again. This dramatically increases the efficiency of the torque converter.

My 2015 Z06, A8 has been flawless and efficient in the 17,500 miles I have driven it. I love this car. The mileage is superb. My number 8 Vette, and this one is the best so far, although I really appreciated my 62 and 65 also!

Depends how you define "breaking down". I think I've only read about 1 transmission that physically "broke". However, quite a number have been replaced for shifting issues that couldn't be fixed any other way.

My 2017 base vert with a build date of sept 16 now has 9748 miles and all is good. I did have the tech at the dealer drive my car home to keep overnight just to check the down shift from 8th to seventh. and also the cold morning start ups. All was good on the A-8

This is very good to hear! I love my 2017 A8 Z06 more every time I drive it! Number 9 for me I still have number 8 as well!
The A8 has the right gears to be fast and flawless.
It is intuitive it is the best Auto yet. From GM best Corvette ever as well.

My car has seen 31.3mpg for the best over 50 miles.
It gets right is drive reverse and shifts normal right away on cold starts. I do have 2 blocks of 25 for a short warm up.

Here, I will start. I have only great things to say about my 2017 Z51 A8, it's shifts are quick and solid. It cruises well and it seamlessly switches from V8 to V4 and back again when power is required. Using the paddle shifters is fun but the automatic selection has more accurate shifts with no human lag.
It is my impression that the 2017 models have been modified with different TC and are using different fluid. These Mods have remedied the majority of problems related to the TC.

I invite all members to write there good experiences with the A8

Thanks, looking forward to hearing all the good stories.
Yes, I would consider my 8 Speed a flaw less piece of equipment! It has around 9500 miles on it. I also drive it manual. Only way to go. At a full stop though,
put it in 2nd. All the time, with zero problems!

Why do we have a front page article pointing to this now and did the person even bother to read what's gone on?

"...any issue raised was dealt with promptly"??? Are you kidding me. Is taking two years trying to fix the problem, finally giving up and replacing the transmission, "promptly". The new transmission is definitely better, but even it has issues. This design will obviously never work really well. Don't even mention that the overheating issues on the 15's (and 14's) was never addressed.

Still plenty of reports of problems. But actual facts are no longer relevant. Just watch the news. Incredible.
