Oil life on C7 Corvette
I've read many of the posts re: oil life % on Corvettes. Here's my question, I seldom use my 2016 C7 Corvette LT1 as it's a weekend car. I've had it for 20 months and have less than 1,500 miles on it. My first oil change was at about 1,000 miles in month 8 as the display reported I was approaching 20% oil life and the car was already in the shop for the Android Auto upgrade so I had the oil changed as well.
1 year later and only 500 miles have passed and the display is showing 16% oil life remaining. Certainly it's not based on miles driven. So my question is does oil break down this quickly from non-use?

I believe it's GMs recommendation to change the oil at least once a year.

If ou are using fully synthetic oil it does not breakdown per se, but it will collect condensation as well as acids and you need to change the oil to flush those out if your engine.

I have yet to see any proof of this damage any of this condensation and acid does to an engine. Imaginary?

I agree! So many forum members buy a beautiful car then park it in their garages for someone else to enjoy when they sell it. I put 5700 miles on my 2017 in 20 days.

If you are under warranty then I would just change it every year. That being said, my car start date is 9/25/16. I changed the oil/filter in March @ 900 miles. It now has 982 on it and I will change it when the DIC says to BUT I might not if I only drive it a few miles. My car is in a air conditioned garage so the condensation thing is not an issue for me personally. Out of drive train and I will not be changing it annually if I don't drive it... it's your car and you can do whatever you like.

The C7 OLM includes time since last OLM reset as one of the factors. It will read 0% at one year, regardless of how it was or wasn't driven during that time. Owners Manual says to replace per the OLM and at least once a year. Since the OLM incorporates time, just follow the OLM.

Oil life on C7 Corvette
Hi
I have done and will do one oil change myself yearly on top of the recommend intervals in the manual. I also did the 500 mi recommended oil change since it is a Z51 with dry sump.
I highly recommend to change the oil in the E-diff also. I have 5300 mi on my and just did the diff oil change. There are many stories of under filled diffs (I did not check mine just emptied it) and also stories about high amount of particles in the oil which I can confirm! It was more like floating metal pasta that came out and it felt really good to do the change with relatively limited amount of miles on it.

My differential was low from the factory, so I just drained it and refilled to the correct level...you can see what accumulates on the drain plug quickly...
I also ran a couple of tubes from my air compressor to the top of the fluid bottle so I could slowly push the fluid into the differential instead of having to pump it (my plastic bottle pump broke before I got any fluid in.)

Well, the DIC will nag you to death when you get to 5%, so change the oil when your DIC nags you.
To get to 5% you probably need >6,000 on the car within a 12 month period.
To get to 5% without any miles (0 miles) just let the calendar click off days. When the days reach 365, your DIC will be at 0% because it also counts time.
So, 12 months, change the oil.
If the DIC nags you, change the oil.
Drive the car!

It's certainly better than what KIA requires. In order not to void the KIA 10 year power tran warranty oil must be changed every 6 months!
I have only driven that car 8700 miles in 2 1/2 years which equates to FIVE oil changes (that comes to ~1750 miles driven per oil change)
