Default Parking during cross-country trips?

What do you do about parking during long trips? I've driven across the country many times, but always in DD cars, nothing special. I've never cared for those cars the way I'll care for my Vette.

I'll be getting my first-ever Corvette in a few weeks, probably just in time to put it up for the winter.

Anyway, next spring I plan to go on some long trips. Usually I've stayed at roadside motels away from cities and downtowns. But with my Corvette, I don't know if I'd feel comfortable having it parked while I'm asleep, without my eyes on it. What do people do?

Thanks!

The same as I do at any other time with any of my other vehicles... I park out away from everyone else. I need the exercise, anyway.

As for security, attend to facility quality, lighting, and "neighborhood"/general local of the motel/hotel. Security is never fullproof, remember, no matter what you do.

Covers potentially draw more attention in my mind. When we drove ours home it was totally brand new and I was very paranoid. I think I would be less so now.

Just find the best spot you can to not be too close to folks and where you won’t get your door blocked from opening and hope for the best!

Just what Avanti said (especially park under lights) & personally would not use car cover as "I believe" it can cause light scratches putting it on/taking off, especially while on a trip where car won't be pristine by a long shot.

I tend to stay at no tell 6 on the road, my preference is a room on the ground floor, near one of the parking lot lights, with the car parked immediately outside my room.

That goes for whatever I'm driving, be it fancy or mundane.

I try to find an end space near, or under a security light. Then get the car as close to the curb as possible, and just hope no one will ding the door. "Knock wood" I've been lucky so far with 8 long road trips in a Vette. The first night you leave it is the hardest, but you'll get over it and you can enjoy your trip. Like my dear bride says, that's why we have insurance.

Also, if you use a cover you'll need one that has security straps with locks if you want it to be there in the morning. IMHO a cover is just to much trouble. Especially if it rains overnight.

Farthest space to the right. 50/50 chance of car to your left having a passenger, and opening the passenger door. 100% chance if you're parking to the left of another car. (Opposite advice if you're in England!)

End space under a light if possible.

This plus some of the other good advice above, with one other: I tend NOT to park under trees, shrubs, etc. where birds will gather. That's because of an obvious reason of what can result and be on your car. I look carefully at how wide a two door vehicle will swing its doors by accident or intent.

You can ask for a handicap room. They are on the ground floor and have a wide parking space in front.

It's a car, I just park it where there is an open parking spot as close to where I want to go.

Doesn't work that way brother. You have to be lawfully disabled with a parking placard to use a handicapped space. If not the price of the ticket will ruin your vacation.

If you're planning your trip and know your overnight destinations throughout the entire journey, book AIRbNb rooms that are homes with garage parking. Then Uber around the town your near. I don't know what kinda trip you have planned, but AIRbNb's are all over the place now.

Most of 'em are fake spaces and don't meet the legal requirements. You don't have to be legally handicapped to request a handicapped room.

They will tow your car with out a handicap plate or mirror hanger. I have seen it happen.
