OP, it's a Chevrolet that's depreciating, find an end spot, park it and quit worrying.

Funny on me. Last Spring I flew into Nashville and rented a car for the trip to Bowling Green. There was a SEVERE rain storm when I got there--vertical traffic lights were blown horizontal. I parked under a tree and ran into the Drury--nice place. Next morning I stopped by the desk and told them I was going to the NCM to pick up a Vette. Lady told me, WHATEVER you do don't park the new vette under the tree outside, the tree I parked under the night before. Went outside and found out why. Hundreds of birds roosted in the tree overnight and covered the rental car 100% with bird poop. I turned the car into NCM and told them it was the one with the bird poop. Never heard from the rental agency.

When staying a motel, I park next to my room.
When staying at a hotel, I prefer to valet park when possible, or if not possible, park under a light standard.
In either case, I leave nothing visible in the car. Not a phone charger, not a water bottle, or even a pair of sunglasses. I leave it just like it looked on the showroom floor, minus the funky warning tags. Nothing to tempt anyone.

Keep an eye out for landscaped areas too unless you’re a fan of water spots. Sprinklers typically run after dark.

^^^ Lesson learned.
Had it happen to me in Montana after spending an hour cleaning the car. Next morning it was completely trashed on one side.

And where will this car be parked in Queens? I doubt that with the exception of LA or Chicago you’ll be in a more populated environment in a trip across the U.S.A. No city in the country has the volume of traffic or vehicles that we have right here in the greater NYC area.

Parking somewhere overnight generally has not a lot to do with the over-all traffic in the area.
And LA traffic is much worse than NYC, in my experience.

We’ll agree to disagree on LA vs NYC. I’ve driven in both. I don’t ever remember not being able to see anything but the back of the vehicle in front of me in LA. It happens several times a day on streets and highways in New York, a truly impossible place to drive,

I have a friend who gets home after Midnight in NYC. Sometimes can’t get a space until 3-4 AM, then has to get back up at 7am to move for alternate side of the street rules. It’s the volume of vehicles...and when they’re in motion...

Forgot that one! I've had a bunch of sprinklers go off when I forgot, altho in the case of "mschuyler" and his car from under the tree, it might have helped the overall look of things.

About 20 minutes away if there's no traffic, there is a luxury-car garage, climate controlled, with a hand-wash stall, trickle-chargers, detailing services, tons of insurance and some fantastic cars inside. Expensive, but worry-free. I'll never have to drive through New York City....

Another thing to consider, when you arrive there will likely be quite a few empty spaces. When you get up in the morning the place might be packed, folks dragging in in the middle of the night.

If someone steals it, you get to buy a new one maybe with some options you missed.
I worry more about dings and scratches than someone stealing my vette.
Hey Greg. Just noticed you live in Queens and you're worried about areas outside of the city????
I lived in Manhattan and S.I. for 62 years. I'd be more worried about getting out of the city unscathed.
LA has nothing on NYC as far as traffic goes. Try the BQE or S.I. Expwy at almost any daylight hour. Not to mention the L.I.E. Don't Forget local traffic, bridges, tunnels, etc.
I Spent 3 months driving around LA, only the freeways were bad.

Well it is a car, but unfortunately it's also a car that seems to receive unwanted attention from idiots that like to do damning things to the car out of jealousy.
Here's an example, there are many more examples here on the forum as well:
