I have a carbon Halltech on my 2015 z51. I did notice a increase in the acceleration, not heavy, after the install. Quite happy with the product.

I can tell you from experience, I just sold my 2016 2SS Camaro and had a CAI cold air intake, and the one GM sells is the same exact one only rebranded. Looks like they are doing the same with the AFe one only not changing the tube to suppress some of the noise. I am probably going to get flamed here, but my Camaro seemed to accelerate faster than my GS. Just saying

Looks similar BUT the fact that they are not changing the air duct tube means the filter housing is not larger than OEM and therefore unlike the aFe, the filter cannot be larger.
These are pics of the GM system from SEMA and the install a aFe on my Grand Sport. It is the same aFe I had on my 2014 Z51 for over 2 years before it was removed when the 2014 was sold and installed it on my GS.
Below is also a power graph from a magazine test of an aFe on an LT1 using their oiled cotton filter. Power gain is similar to what aFe advertises. Still waiting to see the power advertised by the GM system. A forum poster, who had his LT1 dyno tested before and after an aFe install, but using their paper filter, got 10 hp. Not sure he waited the 100 to 200 miles aFe engineers told me was needed for the computer to optimize the air/fuel mixture for the air lower restriction. However aFe showed their replaceable paper filter had more restriction than the oiled cotton although it is larger and flows more than the OEM.
Note, the GM filter housing is not as deep as the aFe needed to hold their larger filter.
Note, Power/Torque Increase From 3000 rpm to Redline. Still Waiting to See GM Power #'s

I do have hangup calling the GM or aftermarket systems like my aFe being labeled CAI systems. In fact aFe does not call their system a CAI. They are a Low Restriction Air Intake (LRAI, my coined acronym!)
All C7's come with CAI! So your comment that it is not even a true CAI is wrong, it is but what you are paying for is a LRAI!
The C7 takes it's air from outside the engine compartment from a passage between the engine bay and front fender well. The inlet starts at the front of the car to the right side of the radiator where the CAI gets cold air! When you take the passenger front wheel off you can see the bulge in the plastic fender well, where the passage is located!
My modified S10 V6 also had the OEM air filter intake with an entrance outside the engine compartment to the left of the radiator. It got air before it passed through the radiator etc! I modified it to be larger, removed restrictions in the intake tube and added a K&N low restriction air filter! I made a LRAI from "the already CAI" just like the C7!
PS: Your not paying for a filter box, your paying for the lower restriction air filter that needs a different box size to hold it-just like my aFe!
Similar to my Grand Sport! Your NOT paying for wider rear fenders your paying for fenders that are needed to cover the larger 335 versus 285 section width tires and wider wheels! (You also get 6 piston front calipers with twice the size brake pads, side skirts to stop pebbles from marking the rocker panels and a splitter!)
