Somehow I find this... well, underwhelming.

I look at it this way, if GM is offering this from the factory it's basically a good thing, depending on the product. Should you want one of these on your current car how hard would it be to order and have them install without worrying about voiding the factory warranty?

Yeah, it being OEM is the best part of it, I'm sure.

Should be interesting to see the design.

GM has had one out for a year now for the Camaro. It includes a new tune. Things that make you go hmmm.

Well the typical CAI, when not heat soaked, usually nets 5%....so 480-485 crank HP?

What does the Camaro version add to the Camaro’s LT1?

It's also interesting that they're now offering an MSRC "upgraded" suspension tune, now that DSC has developed a device that puts the OEM controller to shame.

Don't get too excited about not voiding warranty. In late 14, GM marketed the Z28 LS7 Cold Air for the LS3 (perfect fit). In the catalog, the asterisk told you to flip to page whatever for *IMPORTANT WARRANTY INFORMATION. Sure enough, voided warranty. I had a CAI brand closed box on my LS3 at the time, but sold it quickly and ordered the Z28 intake anyway. Also, if you're in CA, this may not be available to you aftermarket as my buddy had a hell of a time getting the OEM Z28 intake for his LS3 for a while. I think after a while CA backed off and all was OK.
But I would caution against the "no warranty void" excitement, chances are, it will include wording on voiding your warranty if your car did not come with it from the factory. Not that I care, if it gives me the same gains my Z28 intake did, count me in. My stock box will go on if I need warranty work. I'm not usually that kind of a person, but in cases like these, screw you GM. You're happily pocketing my $400-600 you'll charge for this in your catalog, you'll cover the 2018s you install these on, but not my car because I installed your OEM part you market to me after the fact? Again, screw you.

isn't the stock airbox technically a cold air intake considering it pulls cold air from the fender well? I guess this would just decrease turbulence from the sound-reduction chambers. I don't see but a couple hp gain. Imperceptible.

Interestingly, the Z isn't encumbered with the side box.
