New 2018 Corvette Fully Painted in the New Paint Shop! Pics and Video!

I always thought it did not make sense at all to have the plant shut down for all of this time and then come back up again only to start up with cars still going through the old paint shop. And with the news of 2019s starting up early, those of us with 2018s waiting to be built would be getting a second slap in the face if we didn't get the better paint quality.

Jeremy thanks for the pics and video.
next time can you show us the known problem areas (fender vent insert edges, front and rear bumper fender edges etc).
I'm more interested in the assembly and panel marriages than the orange peel. I'll take the peel as long my paint is there and not chipped off lol
ps. Maybe I'm imagining it but that finish does look peel free!

I can't wait to see the darker colors either. Kai Spande said they look amazing!

Some of the cars built this past week are captured fleet vehicles that will be driven by GM personnel and then auctioned off later. The rest, and the ones being built this coming week appear to be dealership stock orders. And the changes in TPW most likely have to do with sequencing the paint colors since they aren't planning to pain any colors in the old shop at this point. They started with white, yellow, black, and red, and will add the other colors all being painted in the new shop.

Cannot see any trace of orange peel from my laptop. So, there mustn't be any, is what I'm thinking, no one else is seeing any either. If the orange peel is a thing of the past, then this is a great breakthrough for Chevrolet.

I have confidence that the new paint shop cars are gong to be a huge improvement. At the same time, for those who have taken time to visit BMW, Mercedes and even Porsche dealers, etc, no brand ever produces 100% of their vehicles without any orange peel.

Great shots, white really is the best color for the C7.....and the C5.

It is most likely that this will be the case.
