Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's been posted that plant tours aren't resuming until January 2019...over a year off.

Correct...we still have 14-15 months or so until plant tours resume. My guess is that this is to protect their ME work until they reveal the ME in Detroit in January of 2019.

For all of you waiting for your car to be painted on the new line I hope it lives up to your expectations. I just finished storing my '14 for the season following a major detailing and am still impressed with the paint job mine received. Maybe because mine was an early one it's better, as I have definitely seen some 'questionable' paint jobs on later cars at dealer showrooms. It will be interesting to see how the new procedure for attaching body panels works out; if there are any fitment issues/rubs or other production related damage that surfaces as production ramps up.

Thanks Jeremy. Great information.

I sure hope that, with this huge investment in the new plant, GM will be able to keep the prices reasonable going forward.

Is there a way to tell which pre-painted parts were used on the 2018's that resumed?

They'll be the ones with more orange peel. But seriously, they'll have a production date sometime this week but other than that I don't know if they have tracked the specific VINs in a way that we could find out that information.

Judging by the changes to the assembly process and the new paint shop, I'd expect it to eliminate or greatly reduce a ton of issues. It's really interesting to see the car with suspension fully loaded through parts of the assembly process. I work in a different GM manufacturing facility and our car is built obviously different, and nowhere is the vehicle assembled with the suspension loaded. I can only assume this will lead to far less squeaks, rattles, etc. Let's just hope they can get the panels lined up perfectly when they do finally bolt them up.

A lot of that tech has been used in other GM plants for 5-10 years. It's nice to see that BG is moving to more modern manufacturing processes.
