The listed part numbers are bogus. They do not exist.

This upgrade isn't about resolving problems it is about improving the car's responses. Two different things. Does your dealer mechanic know anything about tracking a Corvette on a Road Course? If not, then probably should turn a deaf ear toward him/her? It is amazing how little the run of the mill mechanic at any dealership or independent shop knows about the problems faced when we take any car on the track. They don't understand the brake pad wear, the rotor wear, tie rod wear, hub wear, engine heat experienced, tire wear, alignment issues, suspension wear, etc, etc, etc. That is why a large number of experienced track drivers do their own tech inspections before they go to the track. Going to a Certified Mechanic gets you the typical inspection that Grandma's Diddly Wap Motors vehicle gets. They may be excellent mechanics but they really don't know what they don't know and have no idea how to evaluate the car.

So you are doubting what a dealer pointed out on this thread that it is free because they can apply to GM to be reimbursed. (MacMulken)

Default GS upgrade?

I have a 2017 Grand Sport Coupe and I am wondering why there is no "upgrade" for my car?

Does it already have the upgraded package from the factory?

It's because all '17 and beyond cars already have it. You have a GS, which debuted as a '17 model, so you have it.

Then why is there an update for the 2017 Sting Ray and the 2017 Z06 without the Z07 package?

See post #6.

Strange.

Look at the RPOs in post #6. The 2017 updates are for the FE2, FE6 and FE7 suspensions. There's no update for the 2017 FE4, and Z51 and GS share that suspension. FE4 cars already have the update starting in 2017.

I believe that there is some confusion over the "rough track" update that was released last year that specifically changed the track mode calibration for better performance on rougher tracks while the new update provides improvements for the other modes via more appropriate shock calibration settings. Although the info released is about as clear as mud I believe there is an option for Z07 owners that updated to last year's rough track calibration to keep that but receive the new tour and sport calibrations.

Well, I have a '14, no PDR was available so I don't have to worry about "what track I use" and it says that I can have it to help with Tour & Sport. I'm going to stir up the service department and see if they can accommodate me.

I'm with Elmer-I have a 2014, but I'll still get this update done, especially if it's free.

I recently learned that you have to use specific terminology at the dealership for proper understanding.

I had my car in for the Android Auto update and he didn't do it because my car already had the necessary "upgrades". I had to explain to him it was an update/addition to the Infotainment system, not a "patch/update".

I read that it was said that the new updated programming would be available later for the Grand Sport, so that doesn't jive with Foosh's comment that the 2017 FE4 susp already has the new stuff?

Allow me to add to the confusion. I have a 17 Stingray and it has FE2. I just checked the build sheet 30 seconds ago.

You have a 2017 non-Z51 (some call base) C7 with MRC as do I.

My apology, I was talking about FE4 cars, but neglected to say that in my post when I said all 2017s, and I forgot about the FE2s. Other than the fact that it's hard to keep straight all the different FE codes, it does make some sense.

Non-Z51, MSRC base Stingrays have had the FE2 since MSRC was first offered on base cars in 2016. Z51s from the beginning (2014) and GS are FE4s. They supposedly had an MSRC upgrade added in the '17 MY, which, of course was the first year for the GS.

The difference between FE2 and all the other MSRC RPOs is the eDiff w/ PTM, which comes on Z51s and above, and is integrated w/ MSRC. Base cars w/ MSRC (FE2) don't have the eDiff or PTM.

Jwbert,

Perhaps there is another upgrade, beyond the 17 tweak, coming for FE4 cars later.

I'm a bit used to this because I've been running a DSC for almost a year, and am now on the 3rd firmware and software upgrade. The older firmware/software was excellent too, but every new version has made it a little bit better. Fortunately, all future revisions are free to DSC customers, and only take a few minutes to download and install using a laptop at home. There is a USB port on the DSC MSRC controller for direct downloads, but the OEM controller is much more complicated to reflash, hence the trip to the dealer for the GM reflash.

It's actually easy to keep the FE's straight.

FE1 - Non-Z51 Non-MSRC
FE2 - Non-Z51 w/MSRC
FE3 - Z51 Non-MSRC
FE4 - Z51 w/MSRC
FE6 - Z06 & Grand Sport Non-Z07
FE7 - Z06 & Grand Sport w/Z07
