2018 GS or Z06
Guys, I am hearing that there are some issues with the 2016-17 (??) Z06 on over heating???? SO the question is, would I be better off and save the difference in money and buy the GS verses the Z ?????
I do not "track" my cars, I just do drive kind of fast and aggressive when given the chance.
Thanks to all guys !!

I would get the Z06 even if you tracked it. If you aren't a pro driver you won't push it hard enough to make it go limp. 40% more horsepower huge! You don't have to push it to appreciate the torque and power. I made the mistake of driving my friends Z06. Now I will have to discard the Stingray soon. This goes beyond just an opinion. It is a fact.

Z06, all you need to do is drive one and there will be no indecision.

I obviously chose the grand sport (bought new but a year old z06 was about the same price) and I pass some guys in z06s on the track... But I wouldn't consider myself a pro driver.. About 35 track days under my belt..
The grand sport has the wider z06 track, na engine.. More linear power delivery, the hood is easy to see over and see where your wheel arches are and 460 horsepower is good.. Although I agree I wish the gs was 500plus..
More than enough on track unless your a pro.. Which even after 35 track days and being in the advance groups, I wouldn't say I am..
If I was drag racing, doing stop light pulls and just having a good time on the streets, I'd get the z06. Which there is totally nothing wrong with. Or if I thought at this point the car was holding me back... Which it isn't.

The Z06 overheating issues have largely been resolved, from what I have read. So maybe there's a fix that can be retrofitted?
That said, I believe that most of the overheating is from hard use on the track. If you're just going to putter around town with occasional spurts of power, you should be fine.
Since my Stingray has more horsepower and nearly the performance of my past C5 Z06, I think the current generation is tremendous overkill that no one needs.

No track use = no worries on overheating! Pick your toy and enjoy! It does not take a pro to overheat a Z06 BTW. A nice older gentleman was at T hill with me. He was approx 15 seconds a lap slower than me and still overheated in a few laps. This was a few weeks ago in Ca.

I just want to pound around the track and not worry about it

To each their own. I will tell you how it is from my experience since and I am one of the few that actually have owned all three C7's.
When I bought my 2014 C7 and ran with some friends that owned the C7 Z06 after production became available they couldn't leave me at all (I did have a B&B exhaust and Vitesse throttle control)!! They were damn surprised that I was right there with them on our highway runs all the time even though my suspension wasn't as great as theirs.
However, I loved that wide booty on the Z06, so I eventually broke down and bought one. Even thought the Z06 has 200 more horses it was only worthy on drag strip meets. Street driving compared to my C7 was not significantly different. The C7 is very fast!
Due to depreciation values I quickly traded in the Z06 for a 911 after seeing ridiculous deals compared to what I paid for my Z06 at the time. I will say the 911 kept its value (I wish our American muscle would do the same) SMH. But at this point I missed my American muscle, so I traded in the 911 for the GS regardless of how it will depreciate and now I have the best of both worlds. Got my wide booty, some power that I can tune to keep up when needed and saved a ton of money. No regrets!
