I thought it was a fair price. It really only takes 30 minutes to drain and re-fill. I don't like anyone working on my car but I also don't have a lift and don't feel safe getting under my car with jack stands.

I'm assuming this was a Z06?? Confused here.

Thanks, Kracka!

The site has the headings listed in bold in the "box" above the application, within the box of the product above it. Since the heading "Automatic Transmission Fluid" was in the same box as D4 ATF, I didn't read any further. Thanks, again!

Ditto on the OP.

Yesterday, I had my tranny and diff fluids changed on my '16 M7 SR with 27K miles of mostly city driving.

The tranny fluid was not real bad looking. The diff oil was black and had metallic particles. The magnetic plug (forgot which one) had a lot of metal dust attached.

Added Redline D4 to tranny. Added ACDelco 10-4034 Dexron LS 75W-90 Gear Oil to diff.

Gone are the grindy, rubbing noises I used to hear from the drive train. The tranny shifts are now super smooth. Actually even better than when new!

I read that the Redline D4 may not last as long as OEM fluid but that's fine by me. I'll change it again as needed even if that's only 20K miles or so.

I highly recommend this service for C7 with any kind of miles on it.

I take the it the OP was posting about smoothness of shifting the manual M7 trans after using Redline D4 oil, which is not applicable or suitable to the auto A8. If I am correct, his post had nothing to do with smoothness of shifting the A8. GM is very particular about the fluid being compatible with the TC Clutch material. I would not put anything in the A8 except what is listed in GM's latest TSB.

Guys I was really concerned about having the wrong fluid ( MTL vs D4 redline in an M7). The vendor replied back to me and I wanted to post this so in the thread. My car is in hibernation mode so it wasn't freaking me out day by day that I was going to tank my tranny driving with the wrong fluid.

MTL Fluid
Popular replacement for and improvement over GM Synchromesh® (#12345349), Auto-Trak II® (#12378508) and Chrysler spec MS-9224
Safe for brass synchros, as it lacks the reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils that cause damage
Offers quicker shifts, Â perfect synchronizer coefficient of friction
Eliminates notchy shifting, even when cold
High performance gear protection and longer synchro life
Satisfies the gear oil viscosity requirements of 75W, 80W and motor oil viscosities of SAE 30, 10W30 and 5W30
Recommended for GL-1, GL-3 and GL-4 applications as well as where most special synchromesh fluids are specified

We have had a number of C7 Corvette including our own car a 2014 C7 that sees many track days a year running MTL in the transmission with no adverse effects and clean crisp shifts all the time. Also all of our C5/C6 cars also run MTL including our C6ZO6 NASA Eastern National TT1 Championship winning car.

I have also seen recommendations to do a blend of Redline MTL and ATF. If I recall correctly, the MTL is supposed to take load and heat better.

People say use factory fluid so my question is, what is "factory fluid"? GM doesn't make these trannys so why would they say that their fluid is recommended? I'm sure that this 7 speed is used in other manufacturer's vehicles so do they use "GM" brand transmission fluid or their own factory fluid which somehow is different than GM's even though the transmissions are the same?

The M7 or Tremec TR-6070 is only used in Corvette. Tremec calls for Dexron III ATF, but they also say they have their own fluid that they recommend.

http://www.tremec.com/anexos/TREMEC_...0_Prod.Lit.pdf
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremec...0_transmission

RPM, a company who modifies the TR-6070 to take more horsepower, recommends the use of Royal Purple SynchroMax. http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/page59.html

I just got my car (early 2016) back from the dealer - I had (for the 2nd time) the TC/shudder problem (TC has been replaced once already). This time, they only changed the transmission fluid because that is what GM told them to do - it is unbelievable to me how much this improved the entire driving experience.

I didn't realize how "bad" my transmission was - I have only driven the car for 2 days, but have not experienced the rough shifts in the morning, the V4-V8 transition "nudge" has totally disappeared - I wouldn't know the transition happened if I didn't see it switch on the DIC.

I would highly suggest having your dealer do this if you are having any transmission issues.

I realize this is an old thread.

What about Royal Purple tranny fluid? https://smile.amazon.com/Royal-Purpl...smission+fluid

How many quarts does the tranny take? What do people recommend for Diff fluid?
Thanks.

This was my thinking as well. Had the dealer change my M7 fluid with OEM stuff...about 39,000 on the clock then. I have the extended warranty from Dennis. I didn't wanna chance anything there. So....originall fluid done AT the dealer so there is record of if...juuuuuuust in case.

Here is a DYI on the M7 tranny and rear diff fluid change that I found very helpful:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-service.html
I used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF Multi Vehicle Formula for the M7 transmission = 4 quarts
and Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS for the Z51 rear diff (eLSD) = 3 quarts

The specs are Dexron III ATF in the tranny and AC Delco DEXRON LS 75w-90 gear oil for the diff so any fluids that meet those specifications should be fine. And yes you read that correctly - the manual transmission takes automatic transmission fluid. I've used Redline and Royal Purple in the past on my other vehicles, but Mobil 1 was available locally when I did my 'Vette.
