Default Build Date

Just ordered a 2018 GS 2LT last Monday, how long should it take till I find out when it should be built and can I get info on progress from anywhere else but the dealer. My '16 Z51 (as all other vehicles I have ever bought) was purchased off the lot so this is something new.

Thanks

The ease at which you can do this depends on the dealer. If you bought from a forum vendor you are probably in the best of shape. Mike Furman always keeps his buyers informed of progress and Macmullkin, as an example, has an online website where all you do is type in your order number to track progress. If you're anxious enough to do this on a daily basis, you can. If you bought from a dealer that is not used to tracking orders as closely, you may have a harder time of it. Also take a look at the Customer Service tracking thread, just above as a sticky on this site.

I ordered a '18 Z51 convertible from Mike Furman this past Monday, and it's already at 3000 (accepted by production control). Mike said I should have a TPW (tentative production week) sometime within the next week, but based upon his experience, he predicted it would likely be the 3rd week of Jan.

Once you get an order number from your dealer you can go to chevrolet.com and click on the "Chat" link at the bottom right of the page. You can give them your order number and they will tell you what your status is.

Who did you buy it from? And congrats!

I ordered through a dealer that does in 1 year about what Mike or the other big ones may do in a month, they have a certified vet tech and who I bought my Stingray from as well as all my leases so I was able to do as well as possible and stay local. They do not seem to have the reach back as the major guys do but they have treated me solid for many years.

Fortunately, Mike is 50 miles away from me making it a no brainer.

That's great news! I'm guessing it's going to be Sebring Orange?

Yep . . . I could no longer hold out once I saw the ZR1 reveal. I'm a little nervous because my current '14 has been flawless, but that orange was just irresistible.

I was thinking about the orange but without seeing it in person I had to hold of. I currently have the Torch Red but the new GS will be the Laguna Red.

Yeah, I was lucky, too... Kerbeck's was only 1500 miles from me! Seriously, I'd love to have someone local I could deal with.

Send me your order number (dave@kerbeck.com) and I'll get a status update for you.

Yep, did that myself online whenever I wanted. Followed the car through production but even Kerbeck looses track as does GM once ready for shipment. Was waiting to see when it would get to my Courtesy Delivery dealer. Had to wait until the Service Manager called and said, it's coming off the truck do you want to see it with the cover before we remove?

Great guy, his wife has a 2016 Vette and he and the C7 Tech let me in the service bay as they installed my Stage 2 side skirts and splitter etc! Took pics.

From what I understand, as long as your car is started every three days you can track it using OnStar. That was very nice of your Courtesy Dealer. Unfortunately I’m not expecting the same treatment.

^^^

Yep, tired to use OnStar as thought the same. OnStar folks tried but said they could not get a reading unless the dealer activated.

Perhaps they were wrong but I signed up and all, having the VIN etc. One person tried several things to get it to respond-it did not, according to them. FWIW

Yes. I was told that the dealer has to activate it.

Yep , I got the same day, was disappointed, I was hoping for something a little sooner. My only hope now is that some orders are getting bumped to an earlier build date. I hope we bot get bumped to an earlier build date or Santa is coming later this year.
