Monk made a comment comparing this forum to the OT, and he's right, the OT is only for the thick skinned with way more fighting and negative remarks about other forum members than the C7. But I'd like to compare the C7 general to the C5 general. I was on the C5 forum from late 2011 until Jan 2016 when I traded the C5 for a C7.
The C5 forum had fewer arguments. There were far fewer pissing contests and way more sharing of information with certain members recognized as experts in certain areas of the C5. There was way more complimenting of various forum members. Generally a lot more friendly. Yes, there were arguments and sore points (the ebcm issue comes to mind).
There definitely is more appreciation of the car, despite it's age and a lot more appreciation of GM's design. It's pretty evident that the typical income level of the C5 members was not as high as the C7. Maybe that has something to do with why those members hold their Corvettes in high regard because it was more of a sacrifice to own one. I noticed the difference between the two forums as soon as I started hanging out here. I wonder if the Mods intervene less over there than here, it seems that way to me.
Just my observations having made the change.

Well young blood, there's an old saying, "As you are I once was, and as I am you will be." Keep that in mind stud when, if you're lucky, you get to be an old geezer.

Somebody's triggered. Why not just enjoy your car and not care what other people think? If opinions offend you, stay off the internet. Simple as that.

(WARNING. Opinions incoming) quit comparing corvettes to Ferraris. These cars are NOT ferraris.

Also, automatics are lame and convertibles are lame. Those are called chick-mobiles.

I've been enjoying my car most of the day. How about you?
Not triggered at all. BTW, come up with a new term..."triggered" is close to "been there, done that" in terms of overuse. I shared MY opinion about the behavior of certain people on this forum who, because they THINK they're entitled or smart or both, make the forum less enjoyable than it should be.

I never compared Ferrari to Corvette, they aren't comparable in any way. I used them as an example of how GM may want to attempt marketing "specials" and their (Ferrari's) lack of 3 pedals.

Your last comment shows that YOU are exactly the kind of person this thread was aimed at. I have no doubt that you'll come back with some pithy comment, try to make it good. If you met me with my car, would you call it a chick car, to my face? I doubt it. Because (hopefully), you are a better, smarter human IN PERSON. But, maybe not.

I truly DON'T care what people think on the internet. Read my OP again, since you didn't get it first go round. The thread was an attempt to have folks do some introspection about how they reply, how things sound. You don't like automatics and convertibles....so just say that (why you would feel the need only you can answer). But, you felt the need to double down with "lame" and "chick car". Pretty sure those comments were MEANT to be inflammatory. Why? I DO care that people think it's OK to be ********, for no other reason other than IT IS the internet, everyone's hidden behind a keyboard, and common human traits like humility, manners, etc can be ignored (but shouldn't be).

I'm curious...did you read the OP? Because you truly MISSED the whole point and you seem to be one of three that did miss the point. Everyone else got it, so I can only surmise that you either didn't read it or had already cooked up an agenda and just ran with it.

Perfect.
I wonder if people that feel the need to reply like that are that way just on the internet, or if they're that way in everyday life?????

I would think that communicating they way some do here in everyday life would not be healthy. One can mouth off in a forum with near impunity, in real life someone will set you straight the hard way.

Yep, posting under the anonymity of a screen name does seem to give some a degree of courage.

A great thread with lots of fun reading. I am 75, bought my dream car, don't drive it in the rain if possible (Might shrink into a Corvair). Has chrome heaven help me. Now we have it, the nursing home won't get the money.😁

Jimmy, I agree. It is a shame that there are some who are so opinionated that they can't let others be and have to insult your choice. God forbid you bring up the 3LT as opposed to going base, or worse, you espouse opinions that are not conservative. Too bad, because the knowledge of Vettes here is incredible. I read some of the technical posts and it is impressive that some are so knowledgeable about the design of the car.

Hmm, I guess I'm odd then. I can depending on if I know you or not, but much more gruff, vulgar, blunt, obnoxious in public. I'm usually nice to strangers since well I don't know them.

Very true. As Ferrari doesn't make/sell a car which can hang with a C7Z around a track they don't have one to compare. The LaFerrari might have been quicker but I'm not certain. Even if it was mere mortals didn't qualify with Ferrari to buy one.

OP, quit whining or we will take your Man Card. Nothing wrong with a Vert, it’s a great chick car ... sans the ‘shiny’ wheels.

Wait, say it again...I STILL couldn't figure out your point, even after you said the same thing TWICE

But, I appreciate your well thought out, reasoned POSTS. They were a wonderful contribution.

I actually never had to put him on his ***...I finally got sick of it and told him to meet me on the playground after school (where all teen battles were settled)....I'm still waiting 46 years later.

OP I agree with and understand your point. It is embarrassing and is not like this on other car enthusiast forums I participate in. However, this whole issue goes both ways.

I am a track guy, who loves giant functional wings, aggressive aerodynamic add-ons, loud exhausts, forged wheels, manual or DCT transmissions, high G corners, massive amounts of power and the smell of burnt rubber and gasoline. My two Z06s live on a race track, and I would have it no other way. And while I really don't care what anyone else thinks, it is annoying to see individuals here with chrome wheels, automatics and verts calling a factory installed functional wing on a track validated performance car to be "horrible looking" and "ricer". The "horrible looking" comment I can take (as it is a worthless opinion), but the add-on and clearly inflammatory "ricer" insult is a joke. And it happens here regularly. It's one of the reasons the ZR1 was given it's own forum - requested by the track guys like me to get away from the chrome wielding trolls insulting the car for its FUNCTION first and FORM second approach.

So while I don't care about your chrome, automatic convertible sitting at Cars and Coffee (cool by me), please do me a favor and not care about my large, functional factory wing, loud exhaust and massive horsepower on a race track. Or if you do care, then keep it to simply an opinion and not an inflammatory remark. This way we can all be friends.
