And just how interesting would this forum be if we all agreed, had the same opinion, patted each other on the back with every decision we made?

Tell me, why should this forum be different than the real world?

Agree in principal with the OP. Opinions are good when provided with respect, other options, etc. Attacking people personally, making derogatory remarks, etc. does not assist any poster. I've only been on the forum 3 years and have seen more posturing than content. Usually just skip those posts and move on to relevant information to me. Forum is a great place to get ideas, trouble shoot, etc. it's like the 'wave' some get it, some don't know about it and some don't give a s#\+.

At NO point in my OP did I suggest that we should all agree. The entire point of the post is that we (clearly) have DIFFERENT ideas of how OUR Corvette should look and how we should use it. To suggest that this Forum takes these differences in stride (like the "real world") is folly, and coming from someone with 70,000+ posts, you KNOW how nasty and stereotypical this place can be. Also, comparing how folks interact on this forum to the "real world" is silly....9 out of 10 times, folks are not RUDE/NASTY/BELIGERENT to a stranger when face to face. The same cannot be said about Corvette Forum.

Jim , I do not post much , if ever and I agree 100% with you. These keyboard warriors do the same on the Harley site I frequent. Me , I'm an older guy too (62) and I have always ignored , even when young , a-holes. Suggest you do the same.

Jimmy, Great thread. For sure there's a lot of "My Way Is The Only Way" on this forum.
BTW, you forgot one:
Only buy a new Corvette with less than 30 miles on it when you take delivery. If someone else drove it/ owned it, that Corvette is damaged for life.

Funny you bring up the spoiler....I don't like the Z51 rear spoiler, the main reason I bought a base car was because of that spoiler. It certainly wasn't money because when I ordered my car (August 2013) Z51 was a $2800 option!!!!!

I guess the Z51 spoiler is a central point I forgot. When I got my car, I was very proud of it and posted the pics (it didn't happen if you don't post pics). Everyone was complementary and then some guy comes into my NEW Corvette thread and SLAMS my car, telling me it looks like crap (NOT the word he used!) because the spoiler ISN'T there and goes on to tell me if it was such a stretch for me financially to buy a Corvette that I couldn't afford Z51 ($2800 at the time!!!), I shouldn't have bought a Corvette!!!
This is the point of my thread. I don't like the Z51 spoiler. That's it. I've NEVER ranted about the spoiler, just my personal opinion. The GS has pretty much killed the Z51 verses Base smack downs, but for the first few years of the C7, there were multiple threads weekly, with Z51 guys standing in/passing judgement on EVERYONE that had the bad taste to NOT order Z51 ("waxer/poser/old man/etc"). And they were NASTY about it...which brings up the central theme of this thread....why does anyone CARE how someone else specs THEIR Corvette? Attacking someone over an OPTION package would be funny if it weren't so pitiful.

Nuts,Now it's almost given away. That's what makes this forum interesting.A opinion different than others or yourself. Many don't like the spoiler at all.
I just had to throw a little JAB at ya All in fun.

Funny how the anonymity of the internet seems to bring out the best in people.

OP - you hit the nail on the head. Sometimes I wonder how people can think that their opinions on vehicles or mods to them are the the only ones that count.

I've been restoring "real" Corvettes for 35 years. Down the road, when the dust has cleared and only the few cars remain on the road, all the money is in the convertibles. The track cars serve a purpose...as parts for restorations! Just the way it is.

I've owned Corvettes for over 40 years....I love them and I will until I die.....! And I'm one of those 70 year old geezers who just happens to like chrome wheels and manual transmissions. My Corvette is a proud "garage queen" as I get so much satisfaction from rubbing on it, looking at it, talking about it.....and I do drive it every now and then! To each's own!!!!

Just last night I was watching 1/2 hr sit com "Speechless" on the tube. Story line had a washed up old guy go out to his C7 convertible, put a brown wig on his bald head and go to a college bar to pick up girls (unsuccessfully). Funny scene. I told the wife "see, this is the stereotype of the male C7 driver" It had chrome wheels too.
