Default Does this hint at electric potential for Corvette???

Tesla unveils it’s New roadster. Look at these specs:

https://www.autoblog.com/2017/11/17/...n-fastest-car/

Makes me wonder where the Corvette could be headed with GM’s all Electric plan. Thoughts?

Holy Moly! If they can figure a way of getting about 400+miles to charge, that would really sweeten the pot.

Damn impressive. I've said my vette will be a DD for about 10 years then my Sunday drive and I'll buy an electric jeep or whatever Tesla's putting out then. Looks like I'll buy this one (if i could afford it!)

Definitely. I believe the C9 will be an electric, with plenty of range.

Just this week, "while outlining General Motors’ plans to bring at least 20 new electric vehicles to market by 2023, (Mary) Barra made mention of an “expressive luxury low-roof” vehicle among other EV options."

They better get a handle on the idle battery discharge rate on the electric cars as that loss won't fly with the masses. Tesla owners report a loss of anywhere between 3-10 miles of charge per day depending on the temperature and how the car is configured waking/going to sleep, etc.

If I fill my tank up with gas and don't drive it for a month, it still will have a full tank a month later......no so much with an electric vehicle.

Sure, keep the electric vehicle plugged in all the time....it's going to cost you about 1000 to 3500 miles of travel (give or take a few) in electricity per year just to own that beauty.

Is the electric vehicle coming.....yes it is.

The thing about electric cars such as the Tesla is that they accelerate ludicrously well (pardon the pun) but it's not that enjoyable.

To wit, the Model S runs 0-60 in the same time it takes to go 60-0. As impressive as that is, it means the vehicle is fully traction limited at all four times the entire time. Basically, your launch is like a full ABS lockup panic brake incident in reverse.

ABS panic braking isn't fun either. You'd think going forward it would be, but it's just kinda "silent but deadly". Super effective at accelerating the car, but not in a fun way.

It's hard to find fault with a sub-3 zero to sixty, but I just did :-)

BTW, those images in the link look to me like nice Photoshops. Given Tesla's reputation for over-promising and under-delivering, I'm not holding my breath or planning to put down a deposit against the $250,000 initial price.

If GM's electric car plans proceed as announced, it wouldn't be hard to drop an electric drive train into a C7 or C8 based vehicle for a lot less.
