Default Vette the real world supercar

I wanted to start this thread and talk about why the Vette is the real world super car or exoctic.
most people think of super cars as a Lamborghini, ferrari and makes Like it which is true, they do not alot more money but they are fine machines no doubt!
The Vette brings in more all around that you would want to drive more in real world.
I am one of those guys that can afford a 300k car but I choose a vette because it is the most well balanced real world super car I have ever driven.
I am not trying to start a war with this thread, but the Vette is a awesome machine

The problem you're going to run into is that "supercars" is a moniker reserved only for those cars made in Europe, with the possible exception of the first generation NSX. To you and me, the Ford GT is an obvious supercar, but nowhere else will it be.

Also, to be a supercar you have to have a car that has some serious compromise (i.e. "personality"). Whenever you get a supercar candidate (I'm thinking Audi R8), it's too "bland". You have to have a car that is so low as to break the carbon fiber splitter every time you enter/exit a driveway, for example.

And finally, supercars must be built in very low numbers, and even better if you have to receive permission from the manufacturer to buy one.

So, while I have admiration for supercars, I'll stick to my "blue collar" C7.

Have a good one,
Mike

Not sure where this thread is going but the Corvette is one of the best sportscars around. But for many reasons agree or not it does not have exotic status.

I like those blue vettes, they look good.
i read somewhere awhile back that one car company had a 3 year wait list, I forgot which one. To me chevy hit a home run with these vettes,

To me it is exotic, you have to understand stand where I came from, I was born in the hills wnc and did not have money, a vette or even a new car was considered luxury or exoctic, fast forward to today when I became wealthy I have not changed my mindset like how I grew up.
To me they feel exotic.

I'm not quite sure how I would classify the C7 as both "Exotic" and "Supercar" are pretty much ambiguous terms. Or at least I'm not aware of an universally accepted definition for either.

Whatever you want to call it, I do consider the C7 the best preforming and best looking sportscar on the planet for the $ spent.

Oh, totally agree that, in the US the 'Vette is a fabulous car, and is by far the finest car I'll ever own, regardless of my income. But, outside the US? Way too much snobbery for anything from the US to be either/or a supercar or exotic.

It doesn't help that "everybody" can make the choices to own a Corvette.

Oh, and thanks for the props on my sig photo: I love both my C5 and C7.

Have a good one,
Mike

I've loved Corvettes since I was old enough to know what a car was, and my C6 GS and now C7 GS CE are likely, barring an unforeseen blessing by the Powerball Gods, the closest I'll ever got to "supercar" status. I think the very nature of the accessibility and relative affordability of the "blue-collar" Corvette keeps them from being equivalent to exclusivity of the true "supercars".

IMO the terms "Exotic" and "Supercar" are pretty much interchangeable.

The Corvette really can't be classified as either. Too many produced and not produced by a prestige car maker.

Great car, great "sports car". Not exotic, nor a "super car". It may look like a F12 Ferrari, but it's not a Ferrari.

C7 Corvette:

Exotic - No
Super - Yes, in terms of performance compared to cars costing 300 - 500% more
Value when new - High
Collectability - Low

Whatever tag you want to put on it, my 17 GS is, by far, the best car I've ever owned. I've owned cars from every American manufacturer at one time or another and a couple of German sedans (when stationed in Germany) but nothing comes close to the capabilities, comfort, gas mileage, and performance of the C7.

Before I bought Gs I was looking at Ferrari f12 and 488, what impressed me is how Gs felt better than F12 I drove.
Like I said before chevy has brought the A game to world stage.

modern Corvettes: world-class performance & value in a relatively benign wrapper.

Corvettes have always been able to compete with some of the world's best. It's sad that many times, the phrase attached to Corvette is, "it's the best bang for the buck".

The best bang for buck is a mustang, they cost a lot less but give you performance.
Another term is a vette is a blue collar guys car which is wrong!
I am a working man myself, gifted with a shovel but I do see a vette is an accomplished endeavor.
It says alot when money is not an object you turn away from a 300k car and buy a 90k car because it just drives better in real world

Default My take

Bull $hit, If a car (C7Z) whips yo a$$ on the track then it is a "Supercar" compared to your exotic slowmobile! I'll take kicking a$$ any/everyday. And a C7/Z06 is not a plain wrapper in the "looks" department either. There are expensive (foreign cars ) that if you did not know what they were or what they cost i.e. your from Mars and just looking at the overall package you might think that the Z06 looked more like a spaceship than a number of the others.

And paying less is just the whipped cream 'and' cherry on the AK Sundae!

Thing is, a "supercar" isn't about performance only. Limited production, price, "snob appeal", are just as important to the "supercar" label as performance.

IMO, my C7 is vastly superior to any supercar. Why? Because it's MINE, ALL MINE!!!

Have a good one,
Mike

It’s a great sports car, but a depreciating Chevy is not a supercar or an exotic.
