Default Thinking of picking up a '14 and a ?

So here we are after almost 6 years of owning our 1st Vette which we still have, a '98 Nassau blue C5, then in January of this year we bought the wife a '07 40k mile Atomic Orange car for her 2nd driver which she loves (her other car is a '07 5 speed Mustang GT). So now we are looking at a Lime Rock green '14 with just over 10k miles and optioned just how we want, would normally steer away from a 1st year car as I did when getting the other Vettes but as you know it's the only C7 thus far in GREEN! So question is, it is just out of the 3 year warranty when delivered and thinking getting some kind of extended warranty if we buy, what would be best? and what kind of money? I am thinking only kind of extended warranty I would want is from GM? We will be selling one of the above cars once we do get a green '14 but not sure which one yet........

Thanks All!

10,000 miles, it’s still a baby. No extended warranty. Just drive and have fun. Mine 2014 z51 — 11,400 miles.

That's perfect! I can roll the dice on the rest, main concern was drivetrain and big $$$ if issue. Anything else I should look for?

Keith, if you're looking for an extended warranty give Dennis a call. He can answer all of your question, and help you with the best plan to fit your needs. He sells the same genuine GM plan that any dealers sells at a better price. He is a forum vendor here. It's easy, and many of us here has bought our plans for him.

BTW, what is Mick Jagger really like. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

'14s are arguably the ones with the least noted issues, so you should be good to go...

Really? How about infotainment screens going out, 2 piece rotors warping, rear hatches that won't close, NPP exhaust actuators melting, and roofs that creak?

I certainly don't mean to scare the OP out of a '14 car as I had one and loved it. I didn't have issues with it other than the roof creaking and the hatch closing was not easy when it was new. My 2017 GS has some improvements from the 2014 though.

FWIW, my 2014 convertible has been EASILY the best Corvette I've owned (5 in total, all bought new). ZERO unscheduled stops, the car is 44 months old with 18,000 miles.

Think powertrain which is what OP was most concerned about...

For the record mine has had none of those issues. Knock on wood.

1. If it hasn't gone out already...
2. Warranty fix
3. I laugh every time at this one, super easy, it just doesn't do it for you
4. I'd guess that 99% of melting actuators occurred at the track
5. Warranty fix

Sorry, but I wouldn't consider any of these things as reasons to not buy the exact car you want.

So you're simply talking a torque converter if the OP is even talking about an automatic? I've had both a 2014 A6 for over 3 years and now a 2017 A8. The A8 is a better transmission and is warrantied for 5 years.
