Default So a sport bike and a C7 past me doing 140+ it got me thinking...

I was in the right land and red ducatti(i think) passed me doing 140 easily. Then a couple seconds later a white c7(anybody here)passed me doing the same or faster. I was going to try to join in but I was on the phone and decided it was best not to. There was really to much traffic on that freeway at that time doing that kind of speed(see I really am maturing ). But it was cool thing to see without me risking a big ticket.

I have raced some 600s and beat them (when the freeway was almost empty and I had the middle lane empty for more safety for bike). But I have never raced a liter bike. So it got me thinking will a c7 outrun a liter bike on a open road starting at 70 or so? I believe our top end is 180 something. Liter bikes unless a busa are probably around the same or a little slower. Again this comparison all stock no hop ups.

As a former rider I never race bikers... No matter how stupid they are. I went down a couple of times and it can be for any reason at all so I make a point to not contribute to the list of possibilities for someone else.

If above on speeds are true then no the c7 will not do it.

I ride sportbikes too. And I have always heard the throttle cable loss is around 10% and the fast as i have registered on my gsxr 1000 is 186 so 10% loss is around 167 or so.

I agree you never know there skill level. Could be some newbie that just picked the bike up the day before. But im talking skilled riders for this comparison.

So...the guy talking on his cell phone while driving, got buzzed by a bike and car racing each other over triple-digits. Wow, what an incredibly safe time to have been a driver on that freeway!

Just doing the math, modern liter bikes have 200-210 rwhp and weigh about 420-460 lbs. Your Vette weighs about 3300 lbs and has 400-600 rwhp (depending on model). A liter bike would run off and hide from you. Simple hp/lb ratio. I'm part owner of a ducati shop in Marietta, the new V-4 panigale has 215 rwhp stock and weighs 420 lbs wet.

I was young and stupid once and I used to ride sport bikes until my brain matured and I started riding Harleys.
Even though I was once guilty of it, I hate seeing those guys zip by me. My granddaughter lost her 28 yr old father 3 months ago on a sport bike. Totally his fault, but horrible just the same.
Almost made me sell my RoadKing.
SO.....I don't encourage bikers or other cars to race. Save my racing for the track.

My R6 will run away from a stock C7 without any difficulty.

My Honda Blackbird was supposed to do 180 back in the day, but all I could get out of it was 165. Too much wind resistance I guess! It would eat a C7 for lunch up to that speed though. I don't think a C7 would even be close to a modern liter sport bike.

The drag coefficient for a bike really kills top end. Think .5 for a bike, to .29 of a car...

An early GSXR1300 would do an honest 190+

I've raced 600's, 750's and 1000's in the AFM, CCS & WERA.

You'd get left for dead.

My 2018 Z06 Z07 is fast (I instruct regularly at VIR), but my BMW S1000RR will destroy it.

Of course, if you get some squid that can't ride in anything but a straight line, then it becomes a different venue altogether on a track or twisty road.

It takes a lot more skill & physical ability to be fast on a bike than in a car.

i'm actually faster on a bike. And I know a little strange but I even feel safer going faster on a bike.

My 1982 GS 1100 Suzuki was a beast. It was labeled King of the Road.
Buried the speedo on that baby. It was my last super bike. All Harleys after that.

Keep in mind my last Corvette was a 2009 Z06, and I know an enormous amount about car and motorcycle performance numbers. I have two very fast bikes, but not THE fastest bikes made. My Ducati 1199 Panigale was clocked by one mainstream magazine at 9.9 @ 144 in the quarter mile. I've personally seen 171 indicated on mine and was simply running out of room.

One day I was on a backroad and saw an Audi R8 pull out from a side road about 1/4 mile ahead of me. It was early on a Sunday and very little traffic. I followed him a while, and somehow in my mind I assumed it was the 420 hp V8. He pulled out to pass a guy and at that point I rolled into it in fifth gear. Assuming it was a V8 I really didn't work hard at it. I could have downshifted two more gears. I was not wide open, but it was easy to tell he was. I stayed right behind him until I backed off at 145.

A couple of miles down the road we came into a town where he turned off and I saw the V10 emblem on his car. I have to admit at the point I really kind of wished I downshifted more and gone by him just for grins.
