I told him don't. What would you do??
Friend of mine found out his 16’ Z51 does not have mag ride after he was under the impression when he first bought it it did. He bought this car 6 months ago and is debating trading it in for a car with it. They are gonna kill him on trade...
I told him it’s probably better to live without it then to take that kind of a hit on the same car he has unless he wants a wide body, but he doesn’t. What would you guys do???

It’s one of those “ I don’t have it so I’m mad now” type of things I think...

Trading just to get mag ride is a financially foolish decision. If you want mag ride on a new car it costs less than $2000 these days. A trade after six months is going to cost him far more than that. Under normal driving conditions on the road he would be hard-pressed to tell the difference, as his behavior so far amply proves.

Tell your friend to first test drive the car with mag ride. If he likes it, he should get it. It's his money and his decision.

He said “yeah, but he feels it’s lacking something all of a sudden”
I told him he was crazy if he lets this ruin his C7 experience....
I told him I’d get some opinions on here and try to talk some sense into him...

If a non-mag-ride Z51 is anything like my old C6Z in terms of ride "quality", then I'd trade to get magride. Seriously.
Now I know it seems weird because he didn't even know, but maybe he's been unhappy with the ride harshness this whole time and just now found out he could be cruising in magride Tour style...

I don't have mag ride and don't miss it. I've had no thought of changing because I don't have it. I haven't been in a conversation where I felt inadequate because I don't have it. Be thankful for the great car that he already has. There are bigger fish to fry.

Had a C6 without mag-ride and was a complete deal-breaker on the "upgrade" to the C7.
Love the option but have to admit, was not a big of a deal breaker after driving both. As mentioned, have him drive a new version with it. If he is willing to be totally honest and can tell that big of a difference then sure, it's his butt in the seat and checkbook month to month.
As mentioned, will be taken to the cleaners on trade for an option that he may not even really care about. In my case, the jump from C6 to C7 was a bigger leap but C7 to C7? I'd be hard pressed with the financial hit...

Not worth it to "normal" person I feel. I had 14 Z51 with it. Now have 16 w/o. And I like the ride just as well. I guess if you tracked the car the Mag would be of benefit. But for normal everyday driving, save your money.
