HOW TO: Installing JW Motorsports Side Skirts on a C7
#63
Advanced
Quick picture I snapped of mine that I installed last night along with the stage there wickerbill spoiler. Figment overall was good. I had to re drill a couple of the stock bolt mounting holes and I didn’t receive any self tapping screws so today I will grab some #8x1/2” ones to finish the install.

Your screws are on the way. Probably still a couple of days out. If you want to get those finished up you may just grab some.
Splitters should be in stock soon.

The C6 also used the return, cooled Manual trans fluid through a small liquid/liquid heat exchanger to cool the differential fluid. It looked similar to the C7 engine oil/engine coolant heat exchanger near the oil filter, albeit smaller. In the C7 the diff is cooled by an air/fluid heat exchanger behind the right rear fender.

they are not as wide as factory 3/4 skirts. They are about half as wide I would say, for the ones I installed. The Z06 style is different and likely wider.

I don’t exact measurements but they’re much wider than those shown in post 1. I have a lot of customer pics of the z06 style in my sale threads. If you want some emailed just send your email address. I get pics of those everyday from satisfied customers.

I will be doing this install this week. To confirm - Those are self tapping/drilling screws without any nut screwed into the other side of the rocker? Any concern the screws will vibrate out over time? Do most use loctite or some sort of glue as a precaution?

Below is a pic of my 2014 install. I slipped a piece of sheet steel behind the rocker panel to limit the drill bit depth so it did not hit the aluminum frame. There was a gap between the panel and frame in some areas.
There was a gap in my 2014 rocker panels to aluminum frame. Easy to slip a piece of sheet metal behind to limit the depth as it drills like butter!

GM warns of inserting a drill bit beyond 12mm. The included fasteners have an overall length of about 19mm. The cautious thing to do would be find another fastener unless you want to write a how-to-replace-the-transmission-cooling-lines-thread. I pre-drilled to 12mm - and then I probed to make sure I was ok. I found a line in one spot that would have been a big 'oops' if I had torqued it down with the drill.
Do what you want on the passenger side or if you have an M7. A8 owners beware. Do NOT use the #8 3/4" long self tapping hardware on the drivers side that they include unless you have a death wish or you pre-drill and probe the hole first.
