Stupid question. I have a z51 with the m7. I am ok to use the #8x3/4” screws, right?

Yes, drill carefully and you'll be fine. Everyone so far has been successful

Quick picture I snapped of mine that I installed last night along with the stage there wickerbill spoiler. Figment overall was good. I had to re drill a couple of the stock bolt mounting holes and I didn’t receive any self tapping screws so today I will grab some #8x1/2” ones to finish the install.

Looks good! Thanks for posting the pics.

Your screws are on the way. Probably still a couple of days out. If you want to get those finished up you may just grab some.

Splitters should be in stock soon.

the splitter hardware is in there too. They're both labeled.

so so can anyone confirm whether or not the manual has the same cooling lines to worry about that the auto has?

I am not 100% sure. Drill carefully and you'll be fine. Nobody has had an issue when using caution and using the hardware we offer. It's the perfect length.

Question for those who have this side skirt, width wise how are they compared to 3/4 factory skirts from Chevy? Same width or more, less?

Unlike the C6 Z51 that used the radiator cooling system for both the Manual as well as Auto Trans, my understanding is the trans air/fluid heat exchanger behind the left rear fender is all that is used for the C7 Manual Trans.

The C6 also used the return, cooled Manual trans fluid through a small liquid/liquid heat exchanger to cool the differential fluid. It looked similar to the C7 engine oil/engine coolant heat exchanger near the oil filter, albeit smaller. In the C7 the diff is cooled by an air/fluid heat exchanger behind the right rear fender.

they are not as wide as factory 3/4 skirts. They are about half as wide I would say, for the ones I installed. The Z06 style is different and likely wider.

^^yeah I’m interested in the Z06 skirts, hopefully JWM folks will provide the feedback here on the width. They haven’t listed the dimensions on the website either.

I don’t exact measurements but they’re much wider than those shown in post 1. I have a lot of customer pics of the z06 style in my sale threads. If you want some emailed just send your email address. I get pics of those everyday from satisfied customers.

Your site reflects that the Z06 style side skirts in carbon flash for the stingray are out of stock. Any idea when they will be available? Please send any pics to javenius@aol.com.

Thanks

I will be doing this install this week. To confirm - Those are self tapping/drilling screws without any nut screwed into the other side of the rocker? Any concern the screws will vibrate out over time? Do most use loctite or some sort of glue as a precaution?

FWIW my screws on the bottom of the skirts haven't moved since winter when I installed them. I used 3m super strength molding tape (#03614) on the top mating part instead of screws. They're going nowhere.

correct, no nut on other side. Zero chance of them wiggling loose. If my 1000hp stage 2 lopey cam can’t wiggle them loose, you’ll be fine.

Assume folks are drilling and attaching into the composite rocker panel and NOT the aluminum frame with the screws. The rocker panels drill like butter and can't believe a screw is as good a fastener the rivets GM uses! On my 2014 aftermarket side skirt install I used a small stainless fender washer under the rivet head simulating the special (expensive) GM mushroom head rivets used by the Dealer Tech to install the Stage 2 aero side skirts on my Grand Sport. They required 13 rivets per side in addition to the two OEM bolts on the end.

Below is a pic of my 2014 install. I slipped a piece of sheet steel behind the rocker panel to limit the drill bit depth so it did not hit the aluminum frame. There was a gap between the panel and frame in some areas.

There was a gap in my 2014 rocker panels to aluminum frame. Easy to slip a piece of sheet metal behind to limit the depth as it drills like butter!

GM warns of inserting a drill bit beyond 12mm. The included fasteners have an overall length of about 19mm. The cautious thing to do would be find another fastener unless you want to write a how-to-replace-the-transmission-cooling-lines-thread. I pre-drilled to 12mm - and then I probed to make sure I was ok. I found a line in one spot that would have been a big 'oops' if I had torqued it down with the drill.

Do what you want on the passenger side or if you have an M7. A8 owners beware. Do NOT use the #8 3/4" long self tapping hardware on the drivers side that they include unless you have a death wish or you pre-drill and probe the hole first.

No issues with the ACS splash guards. Just installed the C7 Z06 Z07 style side skirts.
