Oh fer sure. Def do the class, it's an excellent school and you'll learn a lot and have lots of fun.

I also ditto the recommendation that you pay for the extra night; very nice facilities and a lot more convenient than dealing with a hotel a few miles away.

OP, you will get a lot out of the course, racing or street driving.

As a testament, I went 2 1/2 years ago and still use what I learned there every time I drive. Haven't been on a track since but might one day. I will say I haven't looked at a turn in the road the same way since taking the course. They teach the eight steps involved in a turn, and I find myself ticking them off in my head as I go through the turn each time on the street, staying within the lane and driving without aggression, but doing it just the same. It's interesting as you see others ahead of you negotiating a simple curve, one can tell a lot about the competence of the other driver by watching what they do. There aren't many who are really paying attention and actually DRIVING their car, lots of distractions out there. ABS exercises and skid pads are also beneficial for street driving.

But if you eventually do track your car, you're experience will pay off in a huge way.

I'm looking forward to next summer when I hit the track in my local area. I already know what I'll do better thanks to the experience at SM.

they have a nice bar in the club house. Decent casual dinner fare.

Worth every penny.

Like they said, you drive the CRAP out of their cars, not yours.

It gave me a lot more confidence in what the Corvette can do and made me a safer driver.

Worth every penny. Chances are good I won't see any track time with my Z06 as there are no tracks near by. I still learned a lot about technique and the car's dynamics.

I stayed in Pahrump the day before and after. it's about 5 minutes from the track. Prices are a lot cheaper than Vegas. Spring Mountain put us up on Pahrump anyway because of some event that used up their own rooms. That's a lot easier than sweating an hour drive from Vegas hoping you make it on time as they start fairly early. Highly recommend Symphony's Restaurant in the Pahrump Valley Winery (3810 Winery Road). Reasonably priced and excellent filet mignon! I have no intention of tracking, but this course helped me with my CTS VSport as well, which has some of the same features as the vette.

I bought a convertible GS in February and did Spring Mountain in October with no plans for taking mine to the track. I agree with everyone here that it is a must for a number of reasons. Yes, it will help a lot if you ever get on the track. Yes, it will help with normal driving. Yes, it will help you see the limits of the car. Yes, you'll meet very nice people. Yes, the staff and accommodations are fantastic. But the number one reason why I'm glad I went was that it is a LOT of fun and created memories for many years!! You will have a great time!

With that being said, has anyone experienced the 2 day course knowing they won't be racing their C7's at the track? It doesn't seem like a bad deal at $1,000 for two days which I believe includes one overnight stay. Did anyone find the training beneficial for every day street use i.e defensive driving?

Thanks.
I have a vert and will never track it. But had a ball at SM and learned so much about the car, its capabilities as well as mine. well worth it. they put you in a car with with the same options you have except they are all coups

Love the responses!
We'd like to think, and based on feedback from this forum, and our students here, that it not only changes the way you drive, and negotiate turns, it's a great time! with lots of new memories made.

like some have said already, for sure try and "do" vegas after the school, lol.
you want your focus to be on the track and classroom sessions, so you get the most out of it!
cheers!

Alas, I suffer from such vertigo that I could not do the "blind windshield exercise".... too much passenger time in war and disaster zones in helicopters... but agree 100%++ as to _looking where one wants the car to go._

Google "Isle of Man Subaru near crash". Watch the R&T video of Mark Higgins near crash at 150 MPH. I found it took some time for me to learn this, as it feels unnatural, but look at his eyes during the near crash. One of the most impressive things I've seen

It is a unnatural because the normal human reflex is to fixate upon the source of danger or what's right in front you, as opposed to fixating on the escape route or what's further down the road.

Exactly right Foosh. It's difficult to change your natural response quickly, but once it becomes a habbit, you find yourself wondering how many times has it actually helped you avoid an undesirable outcome. And not just on the track, but more importantly, on that deserted road when your inner 15 year old comes out and you push the car harder than you should have on tires colder than you thought. Sorry to get off topic, although my 1 year timeframe expired a couple months ago, I still plan on heading out to Spring Mountain one of these days. Both my wife and I would enjoy it a lot (I'm lucky, she actually enjoys track events)

Another yes vote here! Had a great time, learned a ton, and made a bunch of friends. When we were leaving my wife said she wished she did the course too (good reason to go back). I never had any intention of track driving but that all changed after spending a couple days there so be ready! Enjoy your trip!!

My wife and I just returned home yesterday from Las Vegas. We attended the school on Friday and Saturday last week. Absolutely without question one of the best driving experiences of my life. You will learn more about your driving skills and your car then you can imagine. Skid pad, figure eight, slalom course, and 2.2 miles of pure excitement. Not to mention classroom education, great meals, and a great time with other owners.

An absolute must in my book.

And my wife also rode along four times with trainers on the course and loved every minute of it.

Simply stated, Just Do It.

Enjoy.

I signed up at Corvettes at Carlisle and they gave me the second night hotel room free on the course. If you give them a name that referred you that person as a graduate will get a $100 gift from Spring Mountain to use on a future course.

Now downside to this at all.
