Those items are grossly overpriced, but the add on stickers that bother me are the ones for market adjustments - I’ve seen some for $10K or higher. Someone would have to be nuts to pay that.

I recently deleted a photo I took in July of a 20k market adj. on a 2017 GT 350R at the local dealer. It wasn't there very long.

I don't use straight nitrogen. I use a blend made up primarily of nitrogen (78.09%) and oxygen (20.95%). The remaining 1% is made up of argon (0.93%), carbon dioxide (0.039%) and other trace gases (0.003%) to preserve freshness. (air)

Go to a Honda dealer and check out their in stock cars--easily $3800 of add ons including pin stripes, paint sealant, trunk tray, wheel locks, window tint. Just tell the dealer, I'm not paying for any of that, and go from there. Walk away, of course, is always an option which if more consumers did, dealers would quit doing such stuff. But I digress.

At least with that sticker ones gets about $25 worth of stuff- with a "market adjustment" number added to the sticker one gets zippo.

I was living in LA when C7 was released. Every dealer had a MINIMUM of $10K mark-up on floor models, and there was a $20K adjustment to the "premier editions". After talking to the sales manager, he said he'd take $5K off the price "just for me". Upon further investigation, he meant $5K off THEIR price. I went to MacMulkin with my supplier discount and got exactly what I wanted within a month.

I heard that one dealer was even telling customers that once they have nitrogen in tires, they cannot go back to regular air...
So what do you do if you are on a trip and you get a low tire?
Besides, it is not really the nitrogen that is the benefit, it is that nitrogen comes in cylinders and does not contain moisture that you would have with compressed air... otherwise, nitrogen behaves according to the same physical laws as all the other gases (nitrogen, oxygen, argon, etc.)

What is amazing is not just the add on sticker but the fact that people will pay those ridiculous prices. The dealer knows it and will continue to add to the MSRP sticker.

Sonic owned dealers in my area are the worst at these type add on's. If you don't read the fine print at the bottom of the page you won't even know you're paying for the stuff. They're prices are $389 for cars, and $789 for trucks for the same things listed above. And to top it all off, they still stick you for their $699 BS "Doc fees". Never would I darken their doors.
I saw a good example of that yesterday. The dealer advertised a GT350 priced at 80K with a 10K discount. But, the MSRP was only 63K. What a deal.

You're missing the point of the add-on sticker.
It ISN'T that the dealer is really 'selling' those vaporous items, it's that it gives the buyer a MUCH better looking "trade-in value" on their current car.
Example:
Dealer adds on a "additional options" sticker of $2000 worth of near-worthless fluff to his $30k MSRP.
But now, the Dealer can show you on paper that your trade in value is magically $2000 higher! Buyer is happy -- I'm getting $2000 more for my trade than the other guys are offering! I'm only a little upside down now! Wow!

Bingo, almost no one pays for the sucker stuff, but they then think they got a bigger discount or better trade-in.
