Default Taking the Scenic Route

When we take the long way (no side roads, only high visibility roads), we call that "taking the scenic route" because we're providing others scenery.

Anyone else intentionally putting on those extra miles?

We're just the opposite my friend. We'll take the back road every chance we get.

Hell I also put on miles taking the non-highly visibility roads and look at the scenery myself.

Just passed 500 miles. Going to take the scenic route to the dealership and back for my first oil change in an hour or so.

Unfortunately, my commute is 5 miles so I'm always tempted to take the long way home and it has not been easy.

I have a 20min commute every morning. I go a longer way and add 5 more minutes of smiles every day.

Scenic routes are much more enjoyable for me. Interstates would be more enjoyable if they didn’t have such unreasonable speed limits. Hard to enjoy a Corvette at 70 on the big roads.

I like to shift my M7's gears. I look forward to taking Interstate exits to do just that.

56K miles and climbing on the C7 - more than 700K miles in Corvettes - I take Interstates when absolutely necessary. Otherwise it's William Least Heat Moon's "Blue Highways."

Hwy 36 going West from I5 near Red Bluff - click on https://goo.gl/TJerLM. Zoom out for map. The road cuts through the mountains over to Eureka.

Sure. It was a cool ride. I saw the same sign in a dating app actually. I inquired the lady, not that I was particularly interested in her to date but was wondering about her picture of that sign and a motorcycle. She was a biker. She told me where it was and I sought it out, drove up there from the Bay Area and did the 140 mile trip to Eureka.

I've also done PCH (Route 1) where the sign says 75 miles of twisties, probably about 10 times now. Rev Match is a must have on these roads!

(A little far from Chicago though...)

We tried to do the Coast Highway San Francisco to LA this January, after having our C6 shipped to Sacramento. Got as far as Monterrey, then the slides had closed the road in a couple of places south of there. We talked about waiting for it to open, but just went inland. Good thing we did, last I heard Rt 1 was still closed in some spots.

Here's 1/2 way point from a 3200 mile trip from Kansas City area where I bought my car and because of March 2014 weather I had to drive from KC to Seattle the the long way !! Just north of Palm Springs !!! Both 500 and 1500 breakin periods were done !!! Ye ha !! So I would call this the ultimate scenic route for me !!! Wayne

That's why I drove 5 miles to a store the other day and 45 miles home. I don't care about being seen, just being happy driving this great car (although I do admire my reflection in store windows on occasion).
