Sat in a ZL1 Camaro today. I think the C7 was the right choice!
So, while waiting for the oil to be changed in my C7, I sat in a Camaro ZL1 that was in the showroom. I wanted to see if the Camaro was easier to get in to or if it had better head room in comparison to my C7. (I'm 6'4 and fit into the C7 with barely a quarter inch between the top of my noggin and the headliner)
Well, it turns out that the Camaro, for all it's size actually had less head room and didn't feel quite as ergonomic as the Corvette. (Actually, it was significantly less ergonomic.) I will say though, the Recaro seats were very comfortable and had plenty of room. I'm not knocking the Camaro, it seems like a great car, and with that LT4 engine, I'm sure it's a real beast. But I'm glad I bought the C7.

C7 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Yeah I’m trying to convince my live in girlfriend to let go of her modded 2015 GTI 2 door and trade for a ZL1 next year. Though she wants the new Golf R, but only being offered in 4 door in USA is helping my debate.

I also sat in a ZL1 when I visited a dealer just to try it out and found it to have a lot more room than the C7. I'm 6'3" with a long torso (32" inseam) and had to move the seat up a bit to fully depress the clutch. I found it much easier to get in and out of.
Maybe the car you sat in had the seat jacked up.
I found the car to be comfortable but I didn't like the interior look so much. It was nice but not C7 nice. Hell, I prefer the 06 GTO interior compared to the ZL1.
The one thing that draws me to the ZL1 is the back seat which would work for my 4 year old. But i'm still leaning towards the C7 and a beater for when I need to take the family.

I had a Gen5 ZL1, and traded it for my Z51. Before I finally decided on the Z51, I went to a show room that had a C7 and Gen6 ZL1 side by side. I went back and forth between them sitting in each, doing comparisons. It was actually during this exercise I finally decided on the C7.
The C7 feels much less claustrophobic inside. There is a lot more front window / side window, and the roofline feels higher. I do love the Recaro seats, but they were the only thing I did prefer between the two. But, for seating position - I can get the seating position exactly as I want it in the C7, but could not go far enough back, or tilt far enough back in the ZL1.
I didn't drive the Gen6. I would imagine the LT4 is intoxicating as it is in the Z06. And I loved my Gen5. I just love the C7 more.

My wife's got a 17 2SS and I'm surprised how much I like it. Its got a lot less daylight between it and the Vette than I would have thought of. I like the interior but I came from mustangs before my vette so it could be I just like 2by2s.

If you have to drive a German car, buy a BMW! A 328i doesn't cost that much more and it doesn't look like a toaster! If you need some speed, take it to Dinan and get it tuned (and keep the factory warranty!) .

No better bang for the buck BUT
I can't get used to the "tank slit" view out of the Camaro and how low you sit in it...it's positively dark in there......

I have had many Camaro's as rental cars, and the visibility out is just terrible - so much so, that if I were looking for a 4 seat 2 door muscle car, I would buy a Mustang or Challenger first.

I think you are doing her a service. A friend of mine has a VW Golf, which he thinks is awesome. It looks like a toaster with windows to me. I could never get into VW's, and I can't understand what people see in them. Every time I see a VW, it is always driven by a skinny dude with a shaved head and wearing an Adidas running suit.

I also have a 2008 BMW 335i fully modded that has 500whp, so the German cars are taken care of.

Before purchasing my C7, I sat in a ZL1 on the showroom floor and the first thing I noticed was how big the blind spot on the passenger side of the car was. I came from a 2015 Mustang GT which had great visibility, so even the C7 had a little more blind spot than what I was used to, but it wasn't bad. I also went and checked out the Challenger Hellcat, and it's not much better than the Camaro when it comes to passenger side visibility. The Challenger was a little better than the Carmaro as far as visibility goes.

The sunroof in the Camaro, if equipped, eats up a ton of headroom.

It's much better than the 5th Gens. Those were bad.

The visibility in my ZL1 is no worse than my Z06. But then again driving a tow truck in my earlier years taught me how to use the rear view mirrors.

I think other than the useless back seats in the Camaro... The Corvette is actually more practical.... now see how many more sentences you can create using the word practical and Corvette

Backseat is far from useless though. Kids and anyone under 5 foot 8 fits. I'm 5 foot 11 and its a tight fit, but its not as bad as other pony cars.
