M7 transmission grinds from 1-2

In my 2014 the 1-2 shift is also very crunchy until I've been driving quite a while. And it is not that cold here compared to other parts of the country. Auto rev match does help. Seems like it takes a long time to warm up and then it is okay. I have no problems 2-3 or 3-2 or 2-1. Would a repair of this be covered under the 100,000 power train warranty?

I know most people have experience in manual shifting but I always wonder in the back of my mind if they are getting the clutch all the way in. I know I sometimes have to push the clutch in a little farther than feels normal to engage the start switch.

Seems excessive to me. Mine offers a small amount of resistance for the first two or three shifts, but it doesn't really "grind" at all. It's just a bit slow. The temp around here has been 30-40 lately. I notice a lot more sound in the Allison in my Silverado than I do the vette.

I’ve read the manual many times. But....with rev match on I hear and see the rpm’s blip the throttle on down shift but never hear or see rpm’s blip on up shift. Is there something wrong with my rev natching?

However did a test to prove it does work. Shifted very slowly and where the engine rpm would normally go below the ideal match rpm it held it for 1 1/2 to 2 seconds at the match speed.
Therefore shift normally, fairly fast as I do and does not feel like it's working! The computer can do no more that let the engine coast with a closed throttle! There is no brake on the crackshaft!

1-2 shift crunch
I’ve read every thread about the 1-2 and to a lesser extend 2-3 grind on the TR6070 and the general consensus is that it’s normal when cold.
Yes, the crunch/grind goes away once warmed up, but it takes >30 mins of driving or driving at least 30 miles to get tranny warmed up enough where it doesn’t grind. Our temps in CA are about 50-60F in the morning. The only way not to get the crunch/grind in the cold is shifting at or above 3000 RPM and pausing in the middle for one to two SOLID second. This allows the large gear time to slow down into the next gear. Does this sound normal?
It just seems a bit excessive to have to shift above 3000 RPM AND pause for 1-2 full seconds for at least 30 mins in the morning. Do all of you have to go through this too in when cold?? Maybe it gets better after a few more miles?
My car has 900 miles and it’s not getting better. I changed the clutch fluid (Ranger method) and tranny fluid (Mobil 1 ATF) and it’s maybe a tiny bit better.

Not norm. Especially SJC. Wish I was having dinner at Original Joes.
Dealer visit recommended.

Mine does the same thing, grinds from first to second until the car is really warmed up. It doesn't matter if I use rev match or not. It sounds and feels horrible so I often just go to third.

Thenyou have another issue. It should NEVER grind. Yes it is more notchy when cold, but no grinding... I'd take a look at the shifter alignment. Yesh, it's easy enough to di it your self if you can watch a video. While you're in ther, put in the MGW. It's like 4 extra steps...lol.

Try holding leftward pressure on the 1-2 shift. That eliminates the issue on my car when cold, and has become the way I naturally shift now.
Every one of the dozens of manuals I've owned has had its own little idiosyncrasies.

OP - as others have said, you shouldn't get any grinding.
I'm in sub zero temps right now and all I get is a bit more resistance into second for the first few minutes of driving. Definitely no grinding.

Test shifting after warming your car up for 5minutes before driving and report back

I think a lot of people are describing the 1-2 "notchiness" when cold as grinding, but that's not what's happening at all.
