Well, after 15 years of only driving GM cars, I'm done.
I've never owned anything but a GM in my life (other than sport bikes and one track only miata). I bought TWO C7s in the past year. Now, I'm done.
So I had this long saga where I brought my car in to the dealership for an alignment. Two weeks later, they somehow cracked the wheel. 72 days after bringing it in, I was repeatedly lied to:
and I cant even count the number of ignored emails and phone calls over these 10 weeks. For a damn alignment. PS: My car still pulls to the right. At one point, they ignored my calls and emails for three weeks and didn't do **** on the car because "parts couldn't find the part number for your wheel." I kid you not- they couldn't find the part number and just said the hell with it.
GM's executive team (or some such bullshit term) called me to make it right.
They offered me $500 in GM parts cash with stipulations- like I can't use it for tires or anything remotely useful. I laughed and told them car was brand new- I better not need to buy any parts out of my own pocket. WTF am I going to do with this? Buy a genuine GM cap and Corvette jacket? My car has every "Genuine GM accessory" I could want (which is basically just the stage 3 aero kit, which I already have). I guess I can buy some new brake pads and wiper blades.
I suggested extending my warranty. They call back saying the dealership is now claiming the reason for the delay is that they had to fix what some non-dealer repair facility did to my car. COMPLETE bullshit. The car has never been to anything but a GM dealership. It's 3 freaking months old. They call 2 weeks later and tell me they won't even do that because the severity of the situation doesn't justify an extended warranty and my car is still under warranty.
I told her this would be the end of the world if a Porsche dealer did this.
"We are going to deny your request and mark you down as dissatisfied with the resolution."
"How about lost a lifelong customer? Is that a box you can check?"
"Um no sir, we only have dissatisfied"
Oh, and on top of it all, I don't even get the $500 because I declined their offer. What a ******* joke. This is how you treat owners of your flagship car- or better yet- someone who bought TWO of your damn flagship cars in under a year? I've gotten better customer service at buying a cup of coffee.

- It's an aftermarket wheel and they can't be blamed for it.
- It's an old C6 wheel
- (It's a brand ******* new, OEM, 2017 Grand Sport Cup wheel that came with the car)
- We gave you a complimentary oil change (lied- oil was dirty and I pulled the dipstick our right in front of them)
- We gave you a complimentary rear diff fluid change (lied- again)

Sounds more like a dealer problem than a GM problem. One wonders why you don't just go to another dealer.

This story has parity with dealer experiences across GM's network. It's a serious problem.
I had to deal with GM executive care for 6 months before finally getting resolution to a dealership messing up my drivers seat after 2 failed seat cover replacements.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. After 50 years of driving I am suddenly all-GM. Don't exactly know how that happened.

Very unfortunate, to say the least.
Can you share why you purchased two C7s in the last 12 months? Still have both or
trade the first on your current one?

Sorry to hear about your saga. That definitely sucks.
However, you have an incompetent dealer. Find another one. If you think dealer incompetence is limited to GM you have an unpleasant surprise awaiting you.

+This! Not all dealerships are this bad. You can’t fault GM. Hopefully at some point you’ll come to your senses and realize it was a local issue. I’ve had far worse issues with Toyota and Ford dealerships in the past than this. I don’t fault the manufacturers.

While I don't doubt you will get much better dealer support from Porsche you pay for it up front (C7 is way more bang for the buck) and then you pay again later in maitenance. I say this as someone who was all in on buying a Cayman S and have owned almost nothing but Japanese and German cars my whole life.
And I am not trying to downplay your experience, because you have every right to be mad but this is part of the reason why C7's are so much bang for the buck. Same with something like a Mustang GT/350. You get a ton of performance for the money but have to deal with Ford/GM service.

Dealers suck, if you find a good one never leave !! Very little to do with the car makers, I have had problems with all of them. I had a good one, a GM dealer until recently, had a Acadia SUV , Equinox and a 'Vette, moved to a new town, bought a new Ford SUV, ugghhh , the dealer was awful. I hate dealing with dealerships period.
