2:00am and 8 degrees
I live in NY and fought a blizzard the last two days. I went out to move my car to snow blow today and the battery was dead. It's all fixed now. I wanted to see how the car starts in the dead of night's cold. The car started right up. I then decided to take the Vette for a late night cruise. I have my snow tires on and 46k on the speedo. This car gets driven and enjoyed and pampered. Got me some Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 's in the rear and Michelin Ice-3's in the back. One of the reasons I wanted the base model was more tire choice and for nights like this. The road's were icy and snowy. The C7 hooks up really well on all winter conditions with the right tires and the traction control keeps the car moving nicely. The car likes slop the least of all. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Not a sole on the street except me in my red corvette. What a blast. The car just feels so right and drives perfectly. Had the track settings to hear the muffler. Tunes were blasting, my sub was pumping. We only live one life. IMHO it's silly to winterize a such a fine car and save it for the next owner. Drive her and have fun!

Better you than me - at 2 am, I'd much rather be sleeping and in 8 degree weather, I am happy just to be inside where it is warm perusing the Corvette forum.
Having Corvette withdrawals - haven't been able to use it since mid December, so I may just go downstairs into my heated garage (70 degrees), turn on the TV and put another coat of wax of the Grand Sport.

This year the snow came early and between December 15 and this coming Monday (1/8) we will not have had a single day over 32 degrees for the high, 20" of snow and so much salt on the roads that they are whiter than the snow.

Sounds like a lot of fun except for 2 things-the 2am part and the 8 degrees part.

Too funny. If you want some fun find an abandoned parking lot and do some donuts and have fun slipping and sliding. Love driving in the snow as long as it's not deep or really sloppy out.

11:35pm, -9. The real feel is even more brutal. It’s been over 2 months since I’ve driven my fun cars. This is ridiculous.

That being said, if you're going to be trading it in every few years and you put the right tires on it, then by all means go for it.

was actually Zero this morning in Rougemont (just north of Durham NC) when I woke up. Insane. Just doesn't get this cold in NC very often. We've now set a record for the most time spent below 32 degrees, as of this morning it was 127 hours and counting. They're calling for it to finally get above freezing Monday afternoon. Then warmer this week. Not a moment too soon.

nice! the Corvette is a great winter car. I use the Michelin Alpin PA4's and they are beasts.

Here we go again, to save or not save for the next guy, I will save my nice clean salt free car for the spring & myself

I have 46k miles on the speedo and drive the car in all conditions. I did the same with my C6 and I never saw any rust underneath the car. My wife has her car and I have mine. I'm not going to worry about being hit. A new Nissan Pathfinder with all the goodies is 60K so while my car isn't cheap it isn't that much more valuable that the run of mill cars you see everyday. To each his own. I'm going to drive my baby everyday and even in the middle of the night when there is ice everywhere.
But it's honestly not all that fun to drive a Corvette in the winter, I did that for the first 7 years I had my C5 and I will never do it again. It's not about saving the car for the next owner, it's about SAVING THE CAR FOR ME! There are too many bad drivers in the winter that aren't running the correct tires for the conditions, and they pose a threat to smashing into me. Also, this car was a big investment and I want to keep it for a very long time and I know from experience that road salt wreaks havoc on the underbelly of a Corvette. You might not see the effects after a couple of winters but I guarantee you that you will eventually.
That being said, if you're going to be trading it in every few years and you put the right tires on it, then by all means go for it.
