Default Insurance question

Hay guys, just got a bill for my insurance and it's gone up again. The company I am insured with has both the 3 cars and homeowners tied together. Was wondering ,what insurance companies are the better with decent rates?

What's your current rate? Would need to know that and age bracket to know if yours is high or not. For full coverage 2017 z51 stingray 2lt is $75/month with a $500 deductible through state farm. I'll be 40 this coming year.

Damn!! that is cheap.
Mine is a '15 Z51 2LT & I pay $150/mo full coverage even with multi-car discount & other discounts thru GEICO. Hmmm

I have a truck, suv, lambo, 2 houses, 2 businesses through them. But what I think may help me out the most is my agent is the same agent my old man uses since he was 19, my old man will be 69 this year. The agent is about 10 years older than him and is retired or semi retired and his son now runs the agency but it's still all named after the old guy. So I'm guessing or assuming having a 50 year history of all kinds of classic cars, boats, etc, etc helps out too. I've never had an accident, a ticket. Only 1 house claim for hail damage, and this last year was my first business claim which is still in a undecided situation. So that probably helps too.

And my C7 is listed as my daily driver so there is no mileage limitation.

What did they quote you? I would imagine if all those items are insured through the same agent you should get a pretty decent rate, assuming you don't have a bunch of claims or tickets.

You have to shop it every year I was with one company for 25 years then started shopping around and save 400 a year. Now every year on renewal we shop it

I've had the same thing with State Farm and all of my vehicles and properties. When SF raised the rate on my Corvettes I got a quote from the NCM insurance and the cost was HALF of what I was paying SF. $592/yr. (2016, 3LT vert) w agreed value et al.

When I first got the C7 I left Safeco for Nationwide, stayed with them 2 years, then moved to Travelers and I'm on my 2nd year with them now too. Before all this, I was with State Farm for about 13 years and haven't looked back since. I'm getting married in October and will be moving my fiancee's car into my policy and expect and even better rate then

I had been with GEICO for ~40 years and when I tried to put my 2016 base C7 on the policy my rates skyrocketed over my C6. I had the C7 and a 650 BMW and homeowners with GEICO and when I had an insurance agent shop around the car policies went from $3300 a year to $1300 a year with more coverage. What was sort of funny was that GEICO really doesn't have homeowners insurance, they use Travelers. That policy also dropped by a third by going to them directly.

Really makes sense to have an agent that will shop around for you every few years.

I'm sure that after 40 years GEICO figured I'd never do that.

It's a well-known fact that insurance companies bank on you just staying with them year after year and taking the hits along the way with premium coverage increases. In reality, the general public does just that. It's like switching cable TV providers: their best rates go to new customers and the ones that faithfully pay month after month can't get the same rates as the new customers.

Definitely shop around at least every two years but I do it annually.

Farmers Insurance has been low for me for about three years with the combined home and auto policies.

It's almost impossible to cross-compare. Insurance is a different cost depending on which county you live in. My cousin's insurance went up when he dropped his second car and no longer had the multi-car discount. In other words, it was more for one car than it was for two. Then you have to factor in your age, your sex, and your experience. Even your credit score counts, and yes, they can do that. When people start throwing rates around, it is ALWAYS apples and oranges.

It is amazing and a bit scary to learn just how many factors the insurance companies use to determine your rate. The best advice is to shop around. If you qualify for USAA I would give them a shout. They are not always the lowest but my service experience with them for over 45 year has been exemplary.

These threads about insurance are frustrating.
First question is: what part of your insurance went up year over year - HO or Auto?
Second: Have you even asked for a quote on the vette?
Third: too many questions to type....

I suggest that you quant a few things and then go shop; then come back here.
But most responses won't be very helpful.
So Cal can be tough and after the fires and now the mud slides, maybe even tougher.
If the vette isn't a daily driver and you have a garage NCM Agency is a good call for just the vette.

Progressive charges me ~$75/m for full covered on my 2017 GS, with a $500 deductible. I compared with USAA and they were about the same.

Thanks to all you guys for your information. I realize that this was a very general question and insurance has so many factors involved in deciding cost it's impossible unless you compare. Shopping around is the answer and from what I have learned here is you must do it every year to get the best possible deal.
