Default Headlight Warranty Question

Has anyone had their headlights replaced under warranty? My 2017 C7, I bought it in November 2017 and has 200 miles on it. The other day I noticed that inside the lamp were run marks, almost like clear coat ran down them or water marks did and dried and etched into the lens. It is on the inside for sure. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this or has had them replaced under warranty. I'm going to go to my dealership but I feel it will almost be a waste of time. But their are quite a few imperfections inside the lights on the cover.

Thanks

Depending on how bad it looks they may replace it. If it is just moisture they probably won't. Let them evaluate it. If it is clear coat they will probably replace it.

There is absolutely no reason for moisture to be in the headlight housing. This could rot the bulb socket and more. When I was inspecting a new car I bought I saw the moisture. ( Of course a GM car) they replaced it immediately. Don't accept moisture under any circumstance it means there is a breach in the sea!

Are the C7 headlights 100% sealed? My last few cars all had small rubber vent hoses to allow air in and out. This was to prevent condensation.

I've burned out two headlights. The first was covered under the 36,000 mile warranty. The second wasn't covered under the exended warranty.

Most are not sealed to be water proof. Generally there are vents or some method to allow for evaporation or drainage.

Evidently the headlights are vented, and there is a service bulletin on them... Post #6: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ight-lens.html

There are several other related threads. Search “headlights.” FWIW, I’ve read where some have had them replaced under warranty, and others were denied... GL.

If there is visible moisture now, I suspect it will only get worse as time go by... and, if you live where there is a lot of rain/humidity sooner rather than later. Best of luck with the... dealer.

As soon as we get a warmer day here in NC I'll take it over to dealer and report back what they say. I highly doubt they will do anything, but for a car with less than 250 miles on it the inside of the headlamps should be flawless.

This is what both of mine looked like at 5300 miles and 1 1/2 years of ownership. Both replaced with a smile by the dealer, and I even got a loaner.

Yea yours look more rough than mine. Mine just has imperfections in it, like clear coat that ran and dried or water marks that etched into the plastic inside the headlamp. There are just "marks" all over them and you can really only see them up close. 5 feet away they look flawless. But still, can has 250 miles the headlamps should look brand new. Not sure if there is any condensation because since I have owned the car it's spent it's entire life in garage. I washed it once and saw no issues.

Was there anything specific you said to get them replaced or just "hey, look at them" and they replaced?

Just had them look at the headlights, and they ordered them right up. My car is always garaged, and had been washed maybe 6 times when I noticed the fogging. I tried a few times leaving the car in the sun, and even heating the lens with a hair drier, but the fogging didn't budge. Biggest concern for me was knowing that they had to remove the front bumper to get to the headlights, but they did a flawless job.
