Default What a mid-Atlantic Winter

Been 3 weeks since last drive and finally we had a few hour window... it rained an inch or so last night so washed away the brine and salt, and the wind is ripping... enough to mostly dry the roads as the temps plummet towards 20 something once again.... where they are predicted to stay for another good long while. Just enough time for a pre-dawn run to spin the tires and get the oil up to temp.

Just saying....few pic's would been nice, it's been maybe 60-70 days since I looked at my Vette, I have it wrapped up(covered) in bag per say, with trickle charger.
Peace

LOL... I could show you a pic but it would have to be in the garage! It was too dark outside a half hour ago when i drove and the temp has dropped from 40 to 32 since (and is still falling) so I won't be heading out again, probably for a couple weeks what with the ridiculous cold and maybe another ice/snow event to salt the roads next week.

Nice you were able to get at least a little drive time in. My car has been in hibernation since the first of December.

We knew the NORTHEAST SUCKS To own a Vette.Yup,Purchased anyway.
If your garage ain't Heated? Do not,I repeat,Do Not visit the car.
It looks like it went threw a car wash. The Condensation has fogged the glass.Wait till tonite. It will freeze and look like it had 40 coats of clear paint sprayed.
If brake dust is on the rims you can almost listen to the corrosion just eating at the finish.

My garage isn't heated but I insulated the door and all the surrounding walls are conditioned space, so it never freezes in there. It used to freeze before I insulated the door, used to ruin my waxes and such, but no more. Your ice sculpture captures my feelings exactly! I did some time up your way in RI and CT in my Navy days. I can't imagine living any farther north than I am now in MD. Even this sucks.

Tempted to take her out with the heavy rain we just had in NJ washing away SOME of the salt but not all. She has a full tank and stabil in her on a trickle charge and best to just let her sit there until maybe late Feb weather permitting.

You got far luckier than we did. I was hoping to do the same this morning.
It stopped raining about 7:00 am (we got 1.2" and it melted lots of the snow), temps started dropping from 45, wind picked up and the roads started to dry out , so I thought about 9 am I could get out for an hour or so before the temps dropped under 32. After washing the other cars, I went out to get bagels at 8:30, and the town had already salted many of the now dry primary roads in anticipation of the sub freezing temperatures (supposed to be down to 18 degrees by 4 pm) - they never let salt go to waste. Today's drive didn't happen, and it isn't looking good for another 4-5 weeks.

We got a ton of rain on Thursday and Friday and temperatures above 50 degrees, so most of the snow melted away and the salt was washed away from the roads. Unfortunately the temperatures dropped drastically yesterday afternoon and then we got a light dusting of snow and a heavy dusting of road salt. So I didn't get the chance to bring my new car out of hibernation, but I'm hopeful that next weekend might be favorable, as they are calling for dry weather most of the week and 40 degrees next Saturday. As long as they don't salt the roads for a few days before that, I should be good to go for a nice highway run!

Sun is out and roads are almost dry after heavy rain yesterday and last night. I'm headed out for a nice drive with temps in the 20s. Running on DWS06s so no traction concerns. Photos to follow.

I bought mine at the end of November, and I think I've put maybe 100 miles on it. The last time I drove it was Dec 18th. I'm going stir crazy waiting for another nice day.

Not to hijack the thread too much, but what did you use to insulate your door? I want to do mine but I haven't seen any solutions I like.

That's why I moved to Calif, don't miss the east coast a bit.

Like clockwork, the CA and FL people always show up on these "winter sucks" threads. Yes we know there are different climates in the US and throughout the world .

Neither do I. Nor do I miss Seattle weather, Dallas weather or, I suspect, Idaho weather (though I've never lived there).

How I must admit, weather say in Dallas like a severe thunderstorm, is kinda exciting...

Folks always bash Cali and ask how we can tolerate the nuttiness.

This is why, year round driving. I even took the top off my car a few days this week.

Yep.

Cause all we get to hear is folks bash our states and ask why we live here.

This is why.
