It's pretty simple IMHO. If the seat belt cuts into your neck from that angle then use the guide. I use the guide. Otherwise the seat belt cuts across my neck and that's uncomfortable. Use it if is more comfortable to use and don't use it if it's not comfortable. BTW I got the little clip because of this.

I didn't know there was a choice-just thought the clip had to be used by all but had a faulty design whereby the belt constantly came out.

I use the seat guides with the commercial clip with and am comfortable using them. I bought the clips based on recommendations from friends but might have tried one of the alternates if I had known about them earlier.

If you're both tall, but more to the point, a "wide-body," I can see why someone might be more comfortable w/ it outside the seat guide. Otherwise, it's more comfortable and accessible inside.

The seat belt guide was actually designed by GM for use just for shorter drivers. When you are tall like I am, the belt will not stay in the guide, unless you close the loop as some have done so I don't use it.

Using the clip helps keep the belt readily accessible, otherwise it tends to move behind the seat where I have to fish for it.

You are I are the poster boys for why answering fit questions by height is fruitless. I'm all torso, 6'1" with a 32" inseam. Seated height is the key. I don't use the clip.

It was worth every penny to me, and looks OEM. Others have used many methods to keep the belt in place, but I didn't like the looks of any of those options in comparison.

Seems like the general consensus is: buy and use the eggo-designed clip (despite its excessive cost).

I have tried to use the belt in guides. It just binds up. Very hard to pull the belt through.

It's just that people are constantly asking if the will fit in a C7 at a certain height. Height is nearly worthless for determining fit. It is all about the proportions.

Makes using the shoulder belt a bit more cumbersome and seems to bind quite a bit.

Now I am totally confused!

Some say the belt clip is a PITA to use because it restricts movement of the shoulder belt, while others have absolutely no problem with the clip and say that it works great.

I can't see how the belt would work. With mine you can't tug on it and have it lock. Humm I was just thinking that both my seats are as far back as allowed. Maybe if I changed the seat setting I would have better luck. Then again maybe not
