Speedometer gauge problems
This morning while driving to work, I noticed my speedometer was acting up. I was stopped at a red light, but the speedometer needle on the dashboard (not the digital readout) was pegged at 20 MPG. As I continued driving, the needle continually showed a speed of 20 MPG higher than what I was traveling. Again, the digital speedometer was accurate.
Any guess as to the problem? Anyway to reset the instrument panel. All other gauges were accurate.
By the way, shutting down and re-starting the car did not help.
Thank you in advance!

If he's stopped, then it should read 0 on both sides of the border.
That said, this is a first here, AFAIK. It may happen more often, but no one ever looks at that gauge. The constant "stuck 20 above" makes me think it has a physical problem with the needle.

The stepper motor that positions the needle may have a problem.

I appreciate all the input, folks. The good news is that the speedometer needle is back at zero when stopped.
Driving home last night, everything appears to be back to normal. I'm not sure why these electronic hick-ups occur, but glad it's over.
If it happens again, at least I've made note of the issue for now.
By the way, indexing of windows just means you must re-program the auto-up/auto-down function after a battery disconnect. When lowering each window, you must hold down or hold up the window button until the window has completed each cycle. The auto up/auto down, should return after that.
Many thanks to all for your responses.

Hate to drag this issue up again, but I was taking the opportunity of some nice weather to get the car out of winter storage mode. Started things up and lo and behold, another stuck speedometer needle. UGH.
Perhaps it's dealership time.....it's out of warranty at the end of May this year.
Any other thoughts?
Many thanks!

I would take a picture with the digital speedometer showing 0 mph and the analog gauge showing it being stuck just in case the dealership can not duplicate problem when you take it in for warranty.
I only look at the digital speedometer in the middle of the instrument cluster as the analog one is too far to the left for me.

If you still have warranty - get in there ASAP.
